Great video and thanks for not adding any goofy music to it and letting the cars do the talking

That paint is probably the most appropriately absurd and gorgeous flame job I've ever seen. It really sells the absurdity of the rest of it, and I love the whole effect.
PAT, is also as rare a person, as your Buick GSX. Kudos on both!

That is a beautiful automobile with a great and touching story .The gentleman who had the orginal engine and transmission l hope is very proud that his car was purchased by a great man who appreciates very fine automobiles and gave the Buick a good home.

😂😂😂 WOW, you’re even more sensitive than my ex-wife!!! I didn’t hear that at all. Were you listening through headphones? I usually pick up on very subtle speech glitches, etc. and I didn’t hear a thing.

Thanks so much for the story of this gsx...like you I never knew there were blue gsx's..I'm a muscle car buff grew up working on a few Chevelle's, Oldsmobiles, I had a 69' gto when I was a younger along with a grandprix so I know a little bout history of muscle cars I'm no expert but I've always loved the Buick stage one's and gsx's so your story really fascinated me what trans does your car have now and are you ever going to put the original drive train back in it and like you since you have that motor in it all ready you can have a little fun driving it some..are you going to have the original motor built exactly factory or bump the horses up a little...also how did the original drive train end up out of the car and someone else owning it or was he the original owner of the car to begin with sounds like that would be quite a story ...again thanks for showing your car...

Correct me if I am wrong, back in '75, I went to a Buick dealer to price an original stripe kit for a GSX. The part's guy told me there were five colors in 71. Yellow, White, Red, Green and blue. I've seen the first 4 over the decades, but this is the 1st & only one in blue. VERY COOL! Thanks for posting 🥳

A '71 GSX could be ordered in any GS color. Saturn Yellow, the most recognizable GSX color was a 1970 only color. Apollo White was a 1970 only color. The only two production 1970 colors. The prototype 1970 GSX is Pearl White and has unique styling elements inside and out. Arctic White replaced Apollo for 1971. There are examples of '71 GSX's in Red, two Blues, three Greens, White, Gold, Gray, Black, Silver, Bronze, Copper, etc. 15 colors in total. There are single examples of 1971's in Black Red and Gray but there may be more one-of-one examples. There might even be examples of SMO colored cars. SMO would be similar to a COPO in Chevy speak. A car ordered in a non- standard color for that model/ make. Maybe a Riviera color on a GS for example. In 1972, there were new colors and some colors were discontinued. Of the 44 '72 GSX's they were able to be ordered in any GS color as well.

@@erikalarson6803 THANK YOU ! I really appreciate your detailed info. I learned of the prototype some time ago it's really interesting. So, I wasn't dreaming when I came alongside a silver one ('72?) in dt Milwaukee, in 1973. I was in my 70 Skylark Custom. I can still picture the most unusual thing about it. It was the GSX lettering, it was different than I have ever seen, maybe you know of it. I think I can paint the picture. On the right rear QP 6-8" forward of the vertical line of the stripe centered IN the stripe was the GS it was almost as tall as the black portion of the inner stripe. The X was stylized, it fit inside the outer red pinstripe filling the gap from the black to the red. The / line of the X was bounded by the red, but the \ was extra long extending below the red pinstripe the same distance as the dimension from the bottom of the black stripe to the bottom of the red pinstripe. It was beautiful, so cool the way the X stepped outside the sidestripe and was not square as they all are now. Ever seen that ? Thanks again for the info 👍

Back in the early to mid 1990's the was some other service member that owned both a 1987 Grand National and a 1971 Stratomist blue GSX. There is also one owned by a V8BUICK.commember that I sold/ traded an air cleaner with a good decal in OHIO, if memory serves me correctly. And there was at least one more at the 2009 Buick BPG GSX reunion, as they had pictures with one of each of the 1971 advertised colors.
