Love the Hawkeye. IMO Subaru should have continued with the 3 piece grill, it was so unique and special. It was implemented badly on the B9, but that's about it

Glad to see you back after a few years. I've since sold my '06 Hawkeye and moved down to SC from NJ. I miss my hawkeye but it's all good. I did stick with subaru and got an '04 subie FXT. I can't complaint it gets the job done and then some. Good luck to you and looking forward in what you're gonna do with the hawkeye. I'll be changing my timing belt soon, so I be looking out for your vids on that. 👍

Splitters add more stability at high speed by reducing the amount of air travelling under the car. This can definitely be felt at 80+MPH, so I would not say it is for looks. Although some may add it purely for that reason, I like the practical functionality of it.

Great Video! I didn't realize that 2002 / 2003 WRX didn't come stock with mud flaps. We bought our 2002 WRX sedan used and it came with mud flaps but one got pulled off going over a tall speed bump so I was checking Subaru for OEM flaps and apparently there are none for 02/03 MY. The Rally Armor look pretty good so I might get these and this video was very helpful. Thanks for the clear step by step!

Let me help you with some terminology. You have manual, electric, and pcm controlled. Manual boost control is exactly what you said. Electronic boost control is something like an aem truboost, turbosmart eboost street 40, etc. these typically use a mac valve thats controlled by the boost controler to set boost levels and ramp up. And then you get into pcm/ecu controlled that uses factory solenoids to control wastegate or an added solenoid controlled by the pcm/ecu to controll the wastegate. Great video though, good explanations for the two you did explain.

Shame on them for not sanding all the way down and restarting from the primer. Pure laziness. Get an hvlp gun, do your research, get a good ventilated area and spray away. 50% over lap and keep about 10-12 in. away and don't forget to wet sand. If you need a smoother sanding job just mist some black paint over it and that's a good way to get it where you want it. You're welcome 😊

As a mechanical engineer I'm literally shocked people would pay for this kind of downgrade; for nearly 15 years Cygnus has been known as absolute joke. There a very clear reasons why Geoff never actually attends Subiefest or anything legit in person; nor does he actually have any podiums or drivers using his product lol. Avoid avoid avoid.

I wouldn’t trust it for that. The best way to achieve that would be with fiberglass & resin.

Dude... standard slide pin kits have been around for AT LEAST 60 years... so "pretty sure that early in 2000s" and your comment about Fast & Furious popularizing hood pins is kinda hilarious in an accurate context. Gives off millenial vibes of "AC/DC is so cool" our generation must have invented this... "Why do old people where our favorite brand shirts... God!"
@hawkeyestiguy2 ай бұрын
I never once said hood pins were invented in the 2000s, what video did you watch? & yes, the first Fast film did largely bring them into the mainstream where people started putting them on their bone stock cars--nothing I said was inaccurate. What are you even ranting about & bringing generation stuff up out of nowhere for? Sounds like you're projecting...you definitely sound a little bitter to me. 😂
@hawkeyestiguy2 ай бұрын
Also, what old guy listens to that 'Stacy's Mom' music video? Or you just like lusting over younger women you can't have? Wild considering you want to talk about "millenials" when you have millennial music vids in your "Music Jam". *Can't even make this crap up* 😂

Bro, the DCCD system doesn't change front/rear power. This is such a bad video and so many people are commenting like "thanks bro for explaining it to me". The DCCD system determines how much the centre diff is locked up, THAT'S IT. Have it on max to lock up the centre diff. Have it on lowest to completely unlock the centre diff. It's got nothing to do with sending power front or rear, Jesus fucking Christ. Especially for a dude wearing a Engineering Explained shirt. Just blows my mind.
@hawkeyestiguy3 ай бұрын
You are incorrect. As stated, the center diff adjusts the bias of front & rear & can lock the center diff. Sorry you were too dense to understand one of the most basic videos on the DCCD system. Go read a book, or a NASIOC forum.

@clhenry784 ай бұрын
Dude…your explanation is incorrect. It’s not for controlling where torque is going. The center diff is rear-biased. The DCCD controls how much LOCK-UP there is between front and rear.
@hawkeyestiguy4 ай бұрын
This is a basic explanation for the layman. What I said is correct. The center diff locking up changes the amount of WTQ going to the ground through Gus drivetrain & affects front & rear bias.🙄 I’m explaining the function of it, not the minute details that no one cares about & that go over most folks heads.
@ParalyzedNight3 ай бұрын
Haha bro you need to shut up if you don't know what you're talking about. The bias never changes when you lock or unlock your diff. Please, my friend, educate your self on how a diff works. And please, open your owner's manual and read it, it's right there in black and white from the Subaru engineers them selves explaining how it works.
@hawkeyestiguy3 ай бұрын
@@ParalyzedNight So what is the natural power distribution on the STi with the diff wide open? What percentage of the power goes to the rear wheels?
@ParalyzedNight3 ай бұрын
The same in ALL situations, doesn't matter what the centre diff is set to. The bias is always the same.

My 04 wrx just started to flutter I have a external waste gate and I have a exhaust leak near the turbo somewhere I haven’t taken it apart to see what one yet but do you think a bad gasket could cause it to flutter? Because it wasn’t fluttering before this..
@hawkeyestiguy5 ай бұрын
Possibly. If it started doing it on its own, then my guess would be a bad gasket or something. Can’t say for sure, but I would keep an eye on it & try to troubleshoot it or start talking to a shop/tuner guys about what could be causing it, Those guys have more experience & typically know more than I do.
