If you are an engineering student and want a Apple laptop you can make it work as the video says using virtual machines provided by the school, but another option is Bootcamp. However bookcamp only works on the Intel versions of the MacBooks not the M1-M3 machines without the purchase of a 3rd party software.

Ah, thank you for this info, for some reason I thought that the meal plan means, you get "all you can eat" 3 places, where you can go how much you want, and how often you want to, not that it is recudtable from your account of +- 3400 CAD

I have vet shorts (with people demonstrating suturing techniques on the same piece the guest did in your class), and it took me a minute to realize this wasn’t from one of their channels. :) Good luck with wrapping up your program. 🍀

Don't let that stop you! If that's what you want to do you should definetely go for it! The UBC community is super supportive and there are many clubs and organizations you can join for women in STEM

I swear every uni vlog i watch the person is using an ipad. Would you recommend? Is it possible to survive on paper?

Hi! An Ipad or any tablet can be extremely helpful because you dont need to carry different books or notebooks and you can multitask and be efficient with note taking (ie download the slides to write on, split screen with notes etc). But its completely up to preference! You can definitely survive on paper, and in fact many students prefer it!

The ratio among first year engineering students at ubc is around 30% female! It will vary program to program. Having good friends and a good support system helped me navigate being a female in a male dominated field of study!

Hi! In first year you can sign up to be apart of a collegia which is exclusive for commuter students, I did this and it was the best decision I made in first year! As for second year onward it becomes more and more common to live off campus (most upper years do)! Collegia: students.ubc.ca/new-to-ubc/ubc-collegia

I remembe hearing the statement that rushing is another form of going nowhere. It's important to slow down and focus. The book 30 Days to Overcome Procrastination by Corin Devaso does a good job helping me be present.
