Hello gentlemen. I am running a EFHW vertical myself for my portable activities. I am not saying that this is the Best and most effective Antenna ever BUT, it does a fine performance. It's light weight and doesn't ask for much of room in your backpack or the Property you want to run it. And it's easy to install for a one man army even with extremely shoulder arm, spine and disk porblems like I am dealng with. I am son of arthritis and enjoy my portable dx life to the Fullest as much as I can. Thx for sharing some of your field day with us. 73's from the German Frontier de Your Friend Uncle Guenter

Where can you get the plans for your 20m Vertical antenna seen at 10:52 ? QRZ doesn't show info on call you give AA5?? Nice video of your Field Day there. We were 1D AL on an Icom 7300 in SSB only as K4TEP (My son's call sign) and had only 80 QSO's logged here.

Hi Eddie. Glad you enjoyed Field Day. And nice you could experience it with your son. The antenna design comes from AA5TB. Here's a link to his web page about the End Fed Half Wave antenna: www.aa5tb.com/efha.html Best 73, Dale, W9DKB

Thanks for sharing this Dale, I have just completed restoration of a Creed 444 teleprinter and ST-5 TU so operational on mechanical RTTY. It definitely takes some practice to complete a slick QSO with keyboard and tapes ;o) BTW A vintage scope is a cheap and useful tuning aid... See you in the 2019 ARRL RTTY round up or before VY 73 Rex G8UBJ

Great video, Dale! Really takes me back to the fun old days. Of course, I didn't have a tape reader and had to type everything by hand! Your equipment makes an RTTY QSO look almost modern by comparison! Good job! --Mike, VE3CMM
