I seriously doubt that it was inhabited during the time of the ancient Greeks! I don't know why people still use the Greeks as a period of time in ancient history! The Greeks only turned up after the Santorini island volcano erupted around 1500bce and possibly a bit later, they were later discovered by King Philip II who went and conquered them! In the book of exodus from the bible, the Greeks are known as Israelites and we know that they escaped from Egyptian slavery during the eruption of Santorini volcano, the same volcano is responsible for why the Macedonians abandoned their ancient capital city of Hella and relocated further east to the new city of Pella! Archeological evidence on the island of Crete provided the evidence that the Israelites made it there! From Crete they expanded to the mainland where they found the abandoned ancient Macedonian city but they didn't know who it belonged to! That's why there still is ancient ruins in Greece today! The Greeks don't know what they were used for because they didn't build them or use them! That's why they are nothing more than tourist attractions today! The ancient Macedonians called them Grejci pronounced Greitsi meaning foreigners, ironically they still are called Grejci today! The Romans adopted the word Grejci which is where Grecians comes from and we know that the word greek comes from the Roman Latin word Grecians.... The Greeks remained conquered throughout the Macedonian empire and then it was the Roman Empire, the Ottoman Empire.... Only after the Ottoman Empire did the Greeks achieve independence.... Historically, the Greeks contributed nothing! The Romans on the other hand were a very destructive empire! The Romans are credited with building but when you consider that they invaded the Etruscans and occupied their land, Rome was already pre-built! The Romans destroyed Carthage and took anything of value back to their new city of Rome! Then they ransacked Macedonia also! Romans are the same reason why Egypt no longer has a monarchy! What historians have missed was that Macedonia was a huge democratic kingdom! This ancient city of Salona would have been a kingdom operating under the democratic system of the Macedonian capital! Modern day Macedonians and Croatians have a common ancestor in the past! When you look at the history of King Philip II and Of Alexander The Great, you only read that King Philip II went to conquer the Greeks (the foreigners) and Alexander The Great went east towards Egypt and India when he could have just gone north or west towards Croatia, it was much closer and would cost less energy and time but the reason why Alexander didn't go west or north was that they were already established as Macedonian kingdoms! Likewise when Alexander was in Egypt, why didn't he continue along the north African coast towards Carthage? Instead he turned around and went towards India because Carthage was already a macedonian kingdom! So what's the difference between the ancient Macedonian empire and the British Empire? Not much! Ancient Macedonian kingdoms gained autonomy when the Empire fell to the Romans! Just as America, Australia, India, Hong Kong China and every other part of the British empire! Britton is still there today, a shadow of its former self! As is Macedonia! Which is why you don't see an ancient Greece in ancient maps! Map makers didn't bother with minorities which is why you wouldn't find this ancient city of Salona in ancient world maps! It was apart of a power house but not a power house itself! The only reason that the Romans were there was to take whatever they could and then demolish the rest! That's why it's laying in ruins today! There's no such thing as Roman Bath's! The Bath's existed before the Romans! The ancient civilizations were a lot smarter than most people give them credit for! They figured out that everything is made out of atom's, they knew that from as early as 360bce... And they didn't bath but practiced science? Salona even sounds like Solun which has been renamed by the Greeks to thesoloniki.... The people who occupied Salona were ancient Macedonians! There's no doubt in my mind!
