Honestly surprised the comments are on. I do hope the family gets the help they need. This is why it is important to trim your trees so they don't get to big fall on your house, power lines, etc. And I do believe that owners of trees that go through someone else's home should be held responsible and it not be put down as a act of god if it is preventable situation by the home/land owner.

I remember we were one of the few homes on the block with a working fire place. I was around 6 or so and my brother had been born the previous summer, so he wasn't even one yet. We lived in a old 1924 bungalow growing up,where you could section off a lot of the house. Every room had one or more doors. We had so many families sleeping in the rooms shut off from the back of the house. It was the ultimate sleep over for us kids on the block. We played in the snow for like 10 minutes,and then we would all warm up and huddle before 3 p.m. because of the temp drop. Nothing better than s'mores in the living room. Then all night, you would just hear cracking, and sometimes a dozen or so branches would fall. We also didn't have adequate power for a week,so I slowly walked to the bathroom with a candle and then handed it off to ever needed it outside of the door. We thankfully had a gas stove with adequate venting and stocked fire place. whoa. too many memories.
