In terms of Nepal's hydro: In the words of several Indian Ambassadors: "Forget about hydel focus with Nepal, our primary concern should be and is in fact water. You need a control in the rivers of Nepal to quench the thirst of Delhi. "
@ambkishanrana9 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I don't think its a q of India being in 'control' of Nepal's rivers -- that's Nepal's own task. The hydro-power projects under execution speak to the mutual benefits for both countries. India-Bhutan cooperation, producing some 2000 MW of power and a solid revenue stream for Bhutan is the example that has value.

Hello Sir, Its been a great honor to hear about diplomacy and relating topics through an ambassador themselves with the hint of their own past experiences and learnings. I've gone through all of your videos & I'm eager to gain more knowledge and perspective about the working of the foreign relations. I believe these videos of yours are an amazing source for us youth to know more about the basics & workings of diplomat, foreign policy and India's relation with others, etc. This is coming from the fact that their is very little knowledge available about this choice of career, skills needed, its working & exposure to the effect it has on one's country aside from the videos relating to perks/cons/non-work-related-videos, as compared to other home based civil services. I hope you will continue to upload more such videos and do so more often. Thank you.

You are so right. Myanmar is our immediate neighbor, with a land frontier that is 1600 km in length. Several highly regarded colleagues, Preet Malik, Shyam Saran, Rajiv Bhaia and others have served there as ambassadors, and write about our bilateral relations. I shall cover Myanmar, perhaps briefly, when I come to SE Asia and ASEAN. Thanks and regards, Kishan

You have missed Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia with whom India shares maritime boundaries and with them deep economic involvement/relationship is essential to have inevitable influence in IndoPacific region..
@kishanrana7728 Жыл бұрын
I shall cover SE Asia, including the ASEAN states in a separate talk. I agree completely that all the three states you mention are of crucial importance: Myanmar is an immediate neighbor, the vital land gateway to SE Asia. Indonesia is the largest Asian country after China and India, and part of our shared history. Thailand is surely the country in SE Asia with whom we share most a historical heritage. You have done well to mention all three. Just wait a bit -- I shall do my best to cover all I can, in a 10 to 11 minute space! Thanks and regards, Kishan

@@kishanrana7728 It would be very interesting to hear from you, but only not to make you burdened, about corporate diplomacy from the corporation's perspective - how corporation's representative offices abroad can advance their interests and conduct negotiations with a host country's local authorities. For me it is very relevant as I am currently working in a major Russian corporation's representative office in Bangladesh.

Hello sir, do you have any book recomendations about the credibility of being a diplomat/foreign officers?
@kishanrana77282 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Devit. I have a book, published in 2011: "Diplomacy for the 21st Century: A Practitioner Guide", (Continuum, New York, 2011). Chapter 13 of the book deals with 'Professional Qualities'. Please try and get hold of that. That also touches on the issue of credibility. Best wishes, Kishan
