@hpeterh3 ай бұрын
@@swashbucklingadventures9929 It must be enough water. You need 0.6kWh to vaporize 1l of water. This is the energy of an e-Bike battery. Fire department also uses water. It is not possible to extinguish the fire, because the electrolyte contains oxygen, but you can cool it to 100°C which protects healthy cells against thermal runaway. If you use a small container, which isolates and concentrates heat, it will heat up and also healthy cells will burn.

Those bags are a gimmick, I wish more companies start making bags/boxes that actually work. Right now it just seems like BatSafe is the only Go-To option
@brianwest27752 жыл бұрын
Why do a test on concrete bricks? Do it on a piece of wood, like a table, or a foot map or carpet from a car. The best bags won't burn the outside but a blackened outer surface doesn't necessarily mean that wood, carpet or paper would ignite. It definitely slowed down the fire to where, if the table did burn, you could extinguish the table with a fire extinguisher. So it doesn't mean that the bags are useless. Here in Indonesia, I can't find anything branded that matches a successful test, so I think that I need to combine them. Fitting an ammo box inside a LiPo bag is probably a good combination but probably not many LiPo bags that big, so LiPo bags inside an ammo box seems reasonable. Otherwise a LiPo bag sitting in a double-boiler or steamer pot/pan, or even an upside-down pan would probably give enough separation from the scorched bag to the wooden table.

#BatSafe #Warning ⚠️⚠️⚠️ Can you please test the following for me, IT'S VERY IMPORTANT AND COULD EVENTUALLY BE A DANGER FOR YOU !!!! ⚠️⚠️⚠️ It is about the seal: Please put a small piece of paper over the edge of the Bat-Safe and then closes it. (So there's a few cm inside the Bat-Safe and a few cm outside to pull it) (1 cm wide and about 10 cm long, so you can pull on it later (like a flap). can you pull out the piece of paper when it's closed ? With my 3 Bat-Safe's (Normal size) I can do this both on the left & right side - both very simple, but really really easy on the front seal. So easy, I can even push / squeeze the paper in 🫣😱🤯🥴 do you know what material the sealing is made of ? maybe I buy my own one 🤔

Can this box should be reutilize after a small fire or should get a new, what does your test conclude on this topic? If a metal isn't melted and filter is easily replaceable then I don't see any problem reusing it. I watched few videos about this box and your test was very convincing to get few of these including one from person who had fire during storage and was saved by this box and I personally had small fire and damage as a result during charging. However, I would split my batteries across more than one box, don't want to put too many eggs in same basket..lol I'm planning to keep the boxes in the garage on the concrete floor away from everything including walls and using a smoke detector (may use smart detector so I can get alerts when the home is empty) in the garage as well. Thanks for your good video guys, it was very helpful in making a decision whether to invest in one or not, before I was thinking to get an ammo box like others lipo owners but metal heating the bottom of the container was a concern for me 😊

The manufacturer says it can be reused. The box does appear to be in good structural shape though very discolored inside. I did not personally test a second fire.

I want to point out that buyers should beware of the Bat-Safe. I believe it’s a scam company that takes your money and doesn’t ship the product to you. This was the case with me. I also wish testers would look into this stuff because it leads people to be taken advantage of. Be carful with fraud stuff like this people. Amo box is probably the best bet.

Even in open air outdoors, I would still wear a respirator. One like the 3M Full Face 6800 or at least the cheaper half mask, especially when doing controlled test like these to teach safety. Breathing any bit of those chemicals and metals will not get flushed out of your body anytime soon. It's scary to have ailments that doctors cannot diagnose or ever trace back to the one time your breathed in a burning LIPO.

So i have to think on a suction system. Any ideas? I think on a welding suction system it cost alot and don‘t work automatically when it comes to smoke. I fear that they will keep fire when i sleep at the night in my storage box. By the loading process I am always there and watch it.

The BAT-SAFE has a filter in the lid. I tried contacting local officials to see if I could get the smoke tested to find out how bad it was, but nobody nearby had the right equipment to do that.

A smoke detector, wired into your stove hood (if you have one) which turns on the exhaust fan when smoke is detected. Wouldn’t be too difficult with the right know-how and fabrication skills.
