Any extra money you spend now will save you later (giving your computer a longer life), so if you can, it's fine to do. No downside, except the extra money, but plenty of upside in longevity.

Cheap ones. I've got an old Element TV, an HP, and a Dynex TV. I think I bought the latter at a pawnshop. I'm looking in to upgrading the primary monitor, the HP, because it's only 1600x900. My previous one was the Built-in one on the MacBook pro, so this is MUCH worse.

Paul, I just checked Pro7 and the message I get for updates is 17.1 is the newest version. I haven’t upgraded to Sequoia. What is your advice? Thanks.

@@jeffremoma8664 you’d have to enable beta updates to see this one. 17.1 is tested for Sequoia (in fact all of last month’s tutorials were done using it, BUT I’d wait to upgrade to pro v.18 u til it’s the shipping version and wait until you do that to update to sequoia).

Make sure the two outputs for the decklink card are "married" together or you won't be able to choose between internal and external. This tutorial was from four years ago before they added the options you have (in case you don't have a decklink duo 2 or quad 2).

Wondering if you've ever run into this problem: I'm having a difficult time using the keyboard. It has such a long lag time that it's virtually unusable for editing or even changing slides with the arrow or space keys. I've tried changing to a different keyboard and using new batteries, but no luck. The keyboard works fine in all other programs on the computer and the mouse is OK. If I remove and reinsert the sending unit it works for a short time and then lags again. Any suggestions?

Themes aren't really supposed to be used that way, but yes, under certain circumstances you could (but you'd have to make sure that the default theme didn't have a live video source, or you'd have to hide it with visibility or by moving it off the slide). You could also use a grouped screen to place them on unique screens within each layer. There are only 8 possible live-video sources, though, so at a certain point, it's not going to help you do so (because you'd already be dealing with 8 sources).

Is it possible to use group screen to show a big motion graphics across left, center, right screen using group screen and still show lyrics on different format? Could it then also toggle to show live video on left and right with layering lyrics on top of the live video but center screen is showing just the center part of the motion graphics and lyrics on top?

I wish this was updated for ProPre 7 and had info for Mac as well as windows. This is exactly what I need, but it doesn't translate for those two options; so it didn't help, unfortunately.

Is there a way to make the transition duration longer going into a slide and shorter going out of it? For example having the slide dissolve in with a 5 second duration and then dissolve out with a 0 second duration?

@@elizardbeth7879 each transition includes two slides, the one you’re coming out of and the one you’re going into and they both get the transition time divided evenly between them, BUT if you need to cut (instantaneous transition) into one slide (and therefore out of the one before it) you can change any single slide’s transition by right clicking onto it and selecting “transition”. Then choose cut, for example. When you go TO that slide, it will cut, overriding the default transition.

Paul, et al, I use the ProPresenter Sync Up to Repository for my backups and Sync Down from Repository when I want to restore. It works really well and captures (almost) everything automatically for you. I create a new folder before each major event (e.g., new Pro7 version) and every couple of months ... I save these on another location different from the PC being used by Pro7 (note I download the Pro7 install setup for the version of the program the backup works on too and store it with the repository files). I have done this when I have migrated to a new main computer; I synced up to repository from current PC, disabled the Pro7 seat (from web page), installed Pro7 and activated the seat on new PC and then restored everything using the sync down from repository. One item I found that this process did not help with was calendar events and countdown timers. I had calendar events that would automatically start a 5 countdown timer (and associated display) 5 mins before the service started. When I moved to the new PC and synced down from the repository, the calendar event and countdown timers were not captured correctly and I had to recreate them (the timer and link it to calendar event) ... not a big deal except it caused the first service after PC change to have a bit of a rocky beginning. It's probably obvious, but using this repository sync process will not backup anything that was added/changed between the last repository sync and when you restore. One other item I have done is to create a Pro7 bundle for some specific presentation and associated media. I have done this as a unique and focused backup so if something got messed up for that specific item, it could easily be restored with just using the File/Import feature and selecting the Pro7 bundle I created. ProPresenter can ALSO use Blackmagic Design displays, NDI, Syphon, and placeholder screens (all of which the OS doesn't see as regular displays). If you aren't using them, this isn't a video that affects you.

Ok so this was the complex version. All I want to do is have a mp4 play the music and the stage screen only (ONLY)...I probably should say stage screen ONLY at this point show the video. There will be just a static slide displayed on the audience screens. Nothing needs to trigger anything. A human being will start the mp4 file that plays the music and shows the video on the stage screen ONLY!

@@timc6149 this IS the simple version. Propresenter is not designed to play a video on the Stage screen only in an easy way, but with this tutorial it can do it. Now, if you wanted to play slides with static text on them, there is a feature that will do that.

It was originally created for the House of Worship market, so in a sense, yes, BUT it has a setting that hides "house of worship integrations", like the Bible, if you'd just prefer to use it as presentation and live-streaming software, which it is excellent at (I'd argue, better than PowerPoint, Keynote, etc).

@@CityLightChurchMI Click on the Themes icon in the upper left on the toolbar, then right click on the theme you no longer want and select Delete theme. You can also click on the theme and right click on the theme slide to delete one of them and leave the others (if a theme has more than one sub-themes-aka theme slides).

Quick question: What is a good rule of thumb for how much stuff can be added to a library before it begins to slow down ProPresenter?

Libraries? It would be A LOT. Presentations are TINY, like size measured in kb. Now, for media, that's different. First, make sure the media isn't larger than your largest screen. ProPresenter doesn't like downscaling 4k videos to 1080p, for example. Second, limit the amount of media within ProPresenter to what you'll ACTUALLY USE this week and what you MIGHT USE. Archive the stuff for Easter until next spring, for example. Finally, limit the amount of smart playlists you use. One or two is fine, but I've talked to churches that subscribe to a media service and put EVERYTHING they get each month into a new smart playlist. So, they've got several which ProPresenter is always checking for changes in. That's asking for trouble.

@@PaulClifford I used to do this (several smart playlists and loaded lots of content in them) and it worked for a while. But when I started having lots of content (several hundred files), Pro7 slowed down a lot. I have now reduced my smart playlists to 3 and they have limited content (max total about 50 files), which I use to support each Sunday. Some content in these smart playlists are changed each week and some content are changed for holidays and/or seasonal. It's been a good compromise to having everything dynamically available versus bogging down Pro7.

@@PaulClifford I need 3. For my pro presenter and the stage monitor. However had the unfortunate surprise finding out that Mac only se de signal to 1 monitor. It was sending signal to the 2 monitors, however it shows as 1 and it just mirror the images and if I go on settings/display I only see 1 extended monitor, not 2 like you have. Which I’m assuming it wouldn’t be a big deal since the monitors are supposed to show the same image anyway, but I wanted to have the option.

Presentations on the announcement layer can't be mixed in with slides on the slides/presentation layer. So, you COULD use the API to call them, but there's no easy way to do it other than have two presentations, one following the other, so presentation one has slides 1-5. Then you have a presentation set to the announcement layer with one slide (or however many) that's next. Then, to get to what WAS slide 6, you have another presentation that starts with what was slide six. That's assuming I'm understanding your question.

@PaulClifford, the phasing sound in this video slightly pulls to the left in closed headphones compared to all other videos on KZbin. You must listen to one side and then the other to notice the pull to the left. The ads are centered in the same video. I hope that helps.

After setting up the screens as instructed in this tutorial will the pastor be able to use the iPad at the pulpit wirelessly or will we need to install cables from the soundbooth to the pulpit? Our pp7 computer is upstairs in the sanctuary. Does the capture device you’ve linked in the comments connect to the back of the Atem mini, the pp7 computer, or the pastors iPad? Sorry for my ignorance…very new to learning this! Thank you for your time!

There's a feature called "Stage only" that basically turns off control of the audience screens, but enables you to keep cycling through slides for the stage screen. CMD+0 on Mac and Ctrl+0 on Windows (or it's an action) will toggle it.

Hello. I need your help. I purchased the Stream deck, Stream deck xl and Stream deck Plus. My aim is to control the software FaithLife Proclaim that is a software for Presentations Church. On the Elgato MarketPlace, I downloaded and installed the plugin FaithLife on my MacBook Pro. But after affecting Actions to the Stream Deck there is no effect on the Proclaim software. Maybe there is some configurations to do before getting connection between the stream deck and the software. Could you help me to fix the issue? Thanks. Leon

I don't know nearly as much about Proclaim as I do about ProPresenter, BUT I'd check to see if there's a remote protocol/feature/API that has to be enabled in its settings/preferences. That's the way ProPresenter is. If not, you could always upgrade to ProPresenter. ;)

@@KPis-Kpis there’s only one live video layer, so you’d need to put the sound on the media layer, slides layer, or props layer for that to work. Additionally, there are only four audio destinations, so if the audio is different, it might be hard to overcome that.

@@PaulClifford Thank you for the quick response. Okay, so the issue I'm running running into is this. I have a lowerthirds set up via ndi to our live stream and we have a lyric template for it. When I send over scripture its massively to large for the text baground on the lowerthirds. We do 2-3 lines per slide but with scriptures it just grabs two or three lines instead of the entire passage because it's outside of the text box on the template. Is there a way around this without changing the look between songs and scriptures?

What CCLI does is illegal. They say that the own the copyrights to all if the songs in their database. They do not. If you look closely at the credits in fine print, it shows which publishing company or group own the copyright of the song. They also claim that they will take legal action against you if you “pirate” anything they have falsely laid claim to. What a lie and a scam….

@@wayneturpen592 FALSE. CCLI is a license. They do not, nor do they claim to, “own the copyrights to all if (sic!) the songs in their database”. They enable you to display lyrics and the fee goes to the publishers. They DO NOT “claim they will take legal action”. They just will not protect you, if you display lyrics and don’t have permission to do so. VERY DIFFERENT. Now, the question is whether you will take this information and clarification, from someone (me) who has actually read the CCLI terms of service AND who has talked to them to clarify when there are questions, or if you’ll continue to believe this incorrect information that you said.

how does the key show up? i.e. A major, B minor, etc. Does it only show up for the "band view" monitor? Meaning how would the worship team know what key we chose in pro presenter using MulitTracks?

It shows on the Stage Screen. You can change the key at any time. You can choose any format for the chord symbols like: Chord symbols, Nashville numbers, Numerals, or Do, Re, Mi. Take a look at the tutorial from when it came out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iouYapynpsanjsU
