Kind of reminds me of Exandria Unlimited: Calamity, a series set in DnD rules. Usually in DnD healing is reserved for clerics and is generally a "good" spell. But in that campaign one of the PCs gets their skin ripped off and their spine broken by a god, who then proceeds to resurrect and heal said PC to full health just to repeat the entire process. It's by far one of the darker moments in the series

The Dark Lord only became the Dark Lord because the goddess of evil threatened to torture him to the brink of death and then heal him over and over if he refused. Then to be an extra jerk, she made him a prodigy in healing magic when she granted him his powers. Useful, yes, but also a slap in the face to remind him of how he got forced into this job.

I had the thought originally that it would be a love triangle involving Rose and the Hero girl, but the further the anime went, the more unrealistic that started to seem. Usato is decidedly not a fan of spending much time with Rose, even if he respects her as his master.
