Hi I'm surprised your using 5000kwh per year. We have an ASHP some insulation floor, roof and loft. Solid brick walls with EWI but we are at about 3800kwh a year and nowhere near as air tight. We will put in MHR V System soon. And upgrade the sheep's wool in the roof. We do have some solar but that mostly charges the car...

Thank you for your comments. The house itself requires very little energy to heat it but there are some services etc. beyond the normal. The sewage treatment plant and large MVHR run 24 hours a day year round and then there are a number of domestic appliances and machines in my much used workshop plus the demand for domestic hot water. The ashp will from this year run the underfloor heating from 12a.m.to 5.00a.m. on a cheap tariff and at the same time will be charging our 18kwh battery via an 8 kw inverter. The 8.5 kw solar array has been in place since May and so far since then we have been virtually off grid with better than expected income from export. I am hoping the annual consumption from the grid will be substantially down from the energy figure I quoted. Good luck with the rest of your project. Pete Smith.

I did the ride in 2021 with my little terrier, Lil’, riding in the front basket of our Brompton bike. Slightly different route (the Sustrans 1200 mile) but a lot of this route was part of the Sustrans route. Was very interesting to get the flyover! Thanks for sharing this 👍🏻🤗

Thanks for your emails. I am cycling LEJOG starting on September 2nd. I have been sending out this note about the ride. "My blog facebook.com/GASBAGSMike has been set up for a cycle ride from Land’s End to John o’Groats starting on Sunday September 2nd and finishing on Friday September 22nd - if all goes to plan. I (age 73) will be joined by Jeff King (age 75) from Stokesley and Bill Chaplain (age 68) from Great Ayton for part of the way. You might like to FOLLOW & LIKE the blog then you will be informed about new posts. The blog will include describing the daily ride and then adding a link to a KZbin which will show the map, elevation, 3-D fly-through, and a short description with photographs of some of the main towns & cities that we will cycle through for each day. You might like to take a look at the KZbins now or wait till the blog starts mikeenewton.wikidot.com/daily-youtubes - Day 14 is superb Raising money for Teesside Charity & Age UK"

Thanks Mike, for another😅 cracking and hilarious video. It was a superb day, great to see such a mix of cyclists, young and a little older! All giving their all for the Headlight Project. A sincere THANK YOU to every one of you who, over the last 25 years have not only supported many LOCAL Charities, I am chuffed to say I have made so many friends too. Thank you for your persistence in coming back each year to tackle Clay Bank whatever the weather threw at you and boy it did once or twice! Thank you making the Stokesley Rides such a pleasure and a joy to organise. THANK YOU. It’s been a blast. Paul, Chris and my terrific back up team. Lastly, whatever, KEEP CYCLING.🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️
