Hey I haven’t got in anywhere yet. (fingers crossed I get in and can update this thread) I applied about a month ago so I don’t hear back for another month or two. But as I’ve just been through the process and spoken with a few coaches I can say it’s definitely possible to apply as an international transfer just the chances of getting in are usually below 5%. I am applying from AUS for some perspective.

I am at community College, his is my second year, last year I fucked around and did not pass a bunch of classes due to Covid and other factors. I am attending a different CC this year. I am in the middle of my first semester of my second year, 4.0 GPA this semester, will do everything I need to in order to keep it there. I would like to transfer to UPenn. I am going to start doing community service to try to strengthen my application. I also am considering retaking the SAT. I scored an 1120 in 2019, put in no effort to it, never studied for it. I am now studying and planning to retake it December 4, goal of 1450+. Is there anything else I could do to possibly strengthen my application and increase my chances? I intend to earn a bachelors in biology, and then go on to med school after.

Don't take the SAT. You have college coursework (and strong grades!) to share with them now - let that speak for itself. In my opinion, that carries more weight than a single sitting test.

Just write out the skeleton of the narrative you want to tell, and slowly develop it through edit after edit until it is a coherent and compelling story.

Hi Franko and any other viewers! Don't worry. It was a tough year for seniors and transferring is a great option. Good question; it's part of a longer discussion. Email me (see description) and I'll point you toward some resources and case studies for students that were in your exact position. The very high level answer is that it can be easier to stand out and establish yourself at a community college and explain your transferring (because well, you have to if it's a CC/junior college). But the four year uni might offer advantages too. Hope to be able to help :)

Community college 100%. I’m in my second year of community college and 4 of my friends last year transferred to Columbia. I’m also in california so we have transfer pathways to UCLA and UC Berkeley for community college students. If your state has a prestigious public university system (like California, Michigan, or North Carolina) def go to community college! And even if not it’ll be easier to keep a high GPA and transfer to private schools if u go to cc over a four year institution :)

@@Nnm26 1) My joint program with Juilliard School was cancelled my second year. 2) My foreign language was dropped and no longer offered and CU wanted me start all over in another language. 3) I was horribly harassed by another student at another college within the university and CU protected my harasser forcing me to leave (of which I sued) and then CU dropped me as a named scholar. CU has a history of tolerating harassment. The administration doesn't give a damn. Try mediating through the ombuds office (THIS MEANS YOU MARSHA WAGNER) and they will still support the harasser. All in all, CU was the WORST experience of my life. The only good thing to happen was the dean of my school, Peter Awn, died. Good riddance to bad rubbish. He was evil.

It's tough. Try to force yourself to get outside everyday, drink water, etc. All the basics. But things are slowly getting better and will continue to. Promise.

Hi :) Upon completing the common application. I chose the essay prompt “If you think you have something that your application would be incomplete without, share your story” and I decided to discuss my extracurricular of martial arts I have gotten nation and world recognition in it. I made sure to paint a picture. However, I feel like need to tie in academics as well. What would you suggest?
