This is actually one of my original pieces. I'll have a separate channel for all of that at some point, but I was using it with writing students recently.

@@enraged2engaged790 Youre channel is great BTW. I have a broken leg and I've actually been collating Horror Short stories and anthologies I find on KZbin into a huge alphabetized Playlist. I put the cutoff between long form and short form at 2.6 hours and my modern/classic Horror cutoff at Shirley Jackson. And I separate a literary snobbishly I'll admit the non traditionally published stories into a separate Creepypasta Playlist . As a person that is, immersed in the niceties of creative writing do those parameters seem logical?

Thanks for sharing this quaint little story! Here is my review: 3.5* A rather charming quaint little short. The Protagonist is a very poor newly-wed. His wife, cat and he move into a wedge of land with an old dilapidated building on it. There are train tracks either side of their plot and they never get any peace and quiet (unless the trains are on strike!). They have since moved out, but wonder ‘who lives there now?’.

@@MrMaxKeane Thanks for listening. Honestly, it’s not my most favorite story, but my students always seem to like it. Perhaps because it’s quite short, lol.

"They paid him ten thousand dollars, and his broken collar bone healed in practically no time." That was the funniest line. I still remember thinking it was funny back in high school forty years ago. Such a good story, and nice reading!

Thanks for being a good sport about it, lol. I'm a teacher and HAD to have this read-aloud done for my students since I was doing it in class the next day. I keep thinking I'll re-record it at school in the library work room, but other stuff just keeps coming up!

So this old guy close to death tells a young boy just starting out his life about a dangerous risky cookie jar. And then at the end, he tells the boy where the cookie jar is, but tells him to be careful. Then the old man muses to himself, but he won’t be careful. Then why tell him about it, jackass. That old man is a terrible person.

You can’t really stop a dog from barking and she’s allowed to have bodily functions if she’s able to be heard and understood she’s doing a great job

At no point did he say she should’ve stopped the dog from barking, he said she should have been in a quiet place, which is correct. And she could have paused the recording while she coughed.
