Beautiful ferns! Capillaire is a common bartender’s syrup which contains dried maidenhair ferns. Apparently, the leaves are poisonous unless processed properly. I was wondering if they were used in any other food preparations.

We sometimes read about the medicinal/food uses of various plants but don’t have firsthand experience with that end of things (aside from the occasional ostrich fern fiddlehead). Interesting info!

I tried planting Turk's Cap & Philadeliphia Red recently & just found a plant growing that has to be one of them. I'm just hoping there's more than one out there.

I was struck by the patience of the heron in catching a fish related to the patience in the photographer capturing the heron. 😀
