They should’ve fined the 15 team 80 points. Clint would’ve lost his spot to Jeff. And then that would’ve cost Michael Waltrip probably over $40 million because it costs a lot of money to miss out on the chase. He deserved to lose most of his sponsors for this. I guarantee you that if Clint Bowyer was fined 100 points, 5 hour energy would’ve pulled its sponsorship away from Michael Waltrip Racing as well, and then it really would be a low tier team that would fail to qualify for races ever again. They did become a low tier team following the 2013 season, and they would never again make the chase which they deserved that punishment.

Michael knew they were planning this and this is all his fault for letting them follow through on it. Michael should’ve lost his NAPA sponsorship when he failed to qualify for 19 races. MWR, of course, would downsize and be deemphasized as a championship threat and they went from a championship tier team to a low tier team, where they almost failed to qualify for races again. MWR would never make the chase again after this incident.

he handled himself pretty well considering he got spun out and his championship hopes lost pretty much. JPM didn't have to be racing a chase driver as hard as he was especially a guy near the top of the standings.
