I got a few questions: Did you edit the MBR by inserting 'lightnin' as a loading screen sound and did you edit the MBR to have that loading screen?

I got a few answers: I did not edit the MBR to get this custom boot screen. I’m assuming Windows XP had less protection against editing the boot screen (compared to later version of Windows) as you could change the boot screen with an app on XP. The app I used for this is Bootskin, which i believe is open source and still being maintained.

Oh yeah, the speakers were plugged into a different device to get the audio working, Editing the boot audio would have required far more work than I was willing to do for this meme.

@@Christ_Is_King. Yup. These older windows versions had very little stopping you from changing core system components. Back in 2001 they just assumed that the typical user would never touch those components.
