Hydro One was buying utilities at the time. It was a result of Mike Harris changing the electrical system in Ontario. Ontario Hydro was broken up into OPG, Hydro one and the system operator. Utilities (Nipigon Hydro) was part of that change. I was on council at the time and no one wanted to sell. The deck was stacked against any utility staying the same. The million dollars the town got was supposed to be in a fund that the interest would be used on projects and could leverage money from other sources. Unfortunately circumstances did not allow that to happen.

John Harper was commissioner with Don Doiron for years. Ted Nyman was on council then. He might have been council rep on the Hydro commission.

Only fitting; that Charlotte's daughter Pam was Dad's nurse during his final 6 months in the Nipigon Hospital

Very intersting - have family ties to both communities. My father , of course had a store in Hurkett and his uncle Tom Brunner had a farm there and his uncle Joseph Brunner had a farm in Dorion!

Wow, its great to see Larry. I worked with him at Cameron Falls GS as a young fella. He's a good talker. He still talks the same as he did.
