I think my stitches are Vicryl. How strong are they? I had my circumcision 4 days ago. i occasionally see bit of stitches come out when i apply cream. Is this because its specific area is closed or the stitch broke dues to my night sleep erection? PS : bit of refers to a single strip piece every 2 days

Anyone here broken their 3rd metacarpal bone??? I did just last month was told it was on a 20 degree angle had a cast put on and was sent to another hospital because apparently i needed surgery according to the first hospital... well when i went to the 2nd hospital i was referred to by the first hospital that dont have plastic surgeons the one i was referred to cut my cast off done a xray and when results came in i was told i didnt need surgery which i was very concerned about it considering the first hospital told me i needed it long story short they put a splint on and i have to have it on for 2 weeks then go back to the 2nd hospital to possibly have ot taken off and do hand exercises which is in a weeks time but when ive taken the splint off for showers ive tried to do similar exercises to see what would happen... for example i clinch a fist not fully tight but just lightly and my index finger and middle finger are very tight... is this normal? Just concerns me as i do muay thai kick boxing and i dont want it causing me any problems in the future im not aloud to punch with it for 3 months of course but even after the 3 months im concerned its going to give me grief... even knowing my index finger and middle feel tight while lightly clinching a fist is that just normal and does it go away? I hope so... was also told ill always have a lump in the middle of my hand which i dont like to look at lol... thanks.

I was diagnosed with a non displaced 3rd metacarpal and was also advised that I don’t need surgery. I’m scheduled for an appointment with a hand therapist. I also am in martial arts and broke 2 cinder blocks for my 2nd degree black belt. As a result I’m now dealing with this. I’m hoping this will be a fast recovery!!! When it first happened I still could close my hand but not tight so I’m hoping that’s a good sign!!

Ex Athlete/coach here I was breaking a fight up between 2 of my dogs and got bit through the top of my hand and out my palm just behind the top of my middle finger knuckle by one tooth. I don’t have insurance so I’m winging it. I have a very high pain threshold but I was literally kicking my leg like crazy in the utility room because I didn’t want to scare my 2 young girls 7-9 but the pain was very intense. It’s been 8 days today and the wound is finally kinda healed still a droplet of blood on the band aid I can bend fingers but can’t close my fist completely and if I touch the spot of the wound it’s still pretty sensitive. My fingers feel kinda stiff and dry also there’s some odd sensations but not too often. I’m worried it could be a flexor tendon but hoping it’s internal inflammation or something like that ANY insight would be so appreciated. I can’t afford to go to the hospital I recently lost my insurance. I’m worried I could lose range of motion or in my hand or worse. I took some antibiotics from my nurse sister it was Doxycycline bc she didn’t have Amox culvate. Any advice,any info,any words of encouragement would be great. I hope everyone going through these similar problems heals up well. *Is it very odd for a deep puncture wound dog bite like this to still be sore and as I described even after a week. I’m a slow healer in general but I just thought I’d be further a long after 7.5 days. If there’s a email I could send a photo to I’d truly appreciate it.
@MEDICINEinaNutshell Жыл бұрын
Dog bites are not only the obvious skin wound, but also the crush injury between the dog’s jaws. FIRST, you need to ensure that you do not have an infection; infections secondary yo nite wounds can become very nasty, even limb/life threatening. Second, you need to ensure that you do mot have any injury to deeper structures (tendon, nerves, bones, etc). I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you seek medical advice. There must be hospitals serving uninsured patients? Best of luck🙏🏽

@@MEDICINEinaNutshell I did take antibiotics for a week 100mg Doxycycline but I know you’re right I need to go to the Dr. it’s just very expensive and I just paid a large bill from a bad Covid case. Is there anything I’ve mentioned that worries you as a doctor? I feel like ligament between my thumb and wrist is sore I could some of the swelling inside cause the tendons or ligiments to be feeling sore. Do you have a way I can email you a photo? I appreciate your response thank you

@ I’m doing a lot better now but I had pain throughout the hand all the way up to my elbow and if I overuse my left arm my elbow starts to hurt like a tendinitis type of pain it’s less frequent now I would have had surgery but unfortunately I just lost my insurance so I didn’t but I think you’ll heal to 100% in a few months as long as you do what your doc says,I wish the best for you. You got this!

Great informative video! I will share amongst the Diep facebook group where there are always lots of questions regarding this. I had my DIEP a year ago and met up with a previous DIEP patient for a coffee to get this information. I also think that the video should include a section on the mesh that is used, many people nowadays are vegan, it is another question to ask the consultant. I also had protein power drinks before and after which definately helped the healing process. Maybe a follow up video would be good for when patients are back home on tips and expectations eg how to get comfy in bed, tips for stairs, showering eg using a towel dressing gown instead of a towel, stiff arms, nerve tingling etc?? The avatars are great, I recognise some of them too, well done 🙂

Hello, I suffered a boxers fracture almost 7 weeks ago. I fractured metacarpals 4 and 5. I had to get a plate surgically screwed onto metacarpal 4 due to excessive angulation of the fractured bone . According to Xrays and my doctor I have fully healed and have been advised to wait until week 10/11 before beginning training upper body. How would you suggest I reintroduce myself back into training upper body strengthening my hands and forearms?
@MEDICINEinaNutshell Жыл бұрын
Once you have healed completely (usually takes 12weeks in an adult) there should be no particular restriction, but I would restart with light weights and then graduate up. Hope that helps.

Using my thumb and ring fingers, stabilizing the tool with my middle finger, and using my index finger to direct, grasp, and pull out the voice prosthesis, eh?
