dude how do you not have a redundant safety line attached a climbing harness while testing. then no fear necessary
@bellingerkaras17 сағат бұрын
i get that you're emulating spiderman, but i wonder if your design could be upscaled into a double feed backpack that stores hundreds of feet of cable or rope. this is a seriously cool invention and you're amazing to risk your life and limb on it. good work and stay safe.

just asking but wouldnt it be better and safer for your shoulder to connect the upper arm piece to one of those saffety harnesses that are ussualy used in rock climbing? cuz lets say your stopper fails for a few secs and then all of a sudden grips again then there is a good chance you'll dislocate your shoulder.

Cool stuff and it looks like a lot of fun never skimp on safety though. You could have easily had a redundant harness and repelling set up to ensure that if there was a failure you would have still been safe. Definitely look into modern climbing gear, I think you may find some inspiration and frankly some pretty neat physics.

This is really cool on the 'superhero invention' front, but this could honestly turn out to be an insanely useful invention for search and rescue teams and such, like you mentioned

So you have to manually hook the rope round something before using it to belay, I like the project but I think normal climbing equipment is more efficient and reliable at that point

Dude… you have 0 safety. This project is not worth dying for, don’t test it alone attached to random shit. Go to a climbing center, have actuall climbing gear with someone ready to slow your decent if your own device fails. You will die if you continue with risky stuff like this. It’s not only if the rope breaks, say it got snagged and you didn’t descend, you would have ended up hanging 2 storied up. What was the plan then? Cut the rope and fall 2 stories? You will hurt yourself, eventually something will go wrong. Just plan for every faliure and do it in a safe way. It’s wreckless and you’re inspiring others to do dumb shit like this when there are safe ways to do it.

I would say add a metal exoskeleton on the arm that connects to a back brace, that way on fast falls or big tugs you don’t dislocate your arm, the one pro that normal repelling gear has over this is that in the case of a fall the force is distributed into your hips and waist which is much stronger, having something connected to your wrist that can potentially injure you worse in a bad case scenario. Adding something like this would prevent a risk such as that, and it would look sick asf.

This is so dope! Many years ago I had conceptualized a more modular Jaws of Life. This design would definitely help at least with the general mechanics of what I was trying to achieve. Basically, I wanted to make a power glove that had the same strength to pry open car doors like the Jaws of Life. Did you know that the application of that device. Requires at minimum of two personnel to operate? I'd love to share my idea.
@NotEvenOverThere7 күн бұрын
A second line to redeploy during times where the rope is visibly stressed could prevent falls but that would add weight and take up space in the mechanism
@gevorkgevanyan4667 күн бұрын
You should’ve used a harness for safety there would’ve been less risk
