Wow, that's high. Good going. How many minutes did it take to get that high? How much fuel was used?
@DesertMountainAdventures4 ай бұрын
From 10K to the top roughly about 20 + minutes then I quickly decended back down below 10k, the whole flight I burned every drop of 8 liters on Moster 185 Dual start spinning a 140 prop.

Seriously! I was going to 10K like two months ago and gave up at 8,000 because I was shivering.

@rule1dontgosplat I went to 18k a couple hours ago 🥶
@rule1dontgosplat4 ай бұрын
@@MarkHuneycutt Haha nice! The winds are looking good for the morning. Hoping to make a 10,000 foot run. Well... 10,350 feet, so I can say I was 10000 feet above the ground. If I'm feeling it, I'll try for 12,850. I just want to cut the motor off at the top and glide.
@MarkHuneycutt4 ай бұрын
@rule1dontgosplat sounds fun! The 40 minute ride down from 18k was nice.
@rule1dontgosplat4 ай бұрын
@@MarkHuneycuttdo you do a bunch of wingovers and stuff to come down faster? Or do you just glide?

Wow - awesome. You didn't bring any oxygen??!!
@DesertMountainAdventures4 ай бұрын
Thank you. No, I didn't have portable oxygen, but definitely would recommend for anyone that flies over 10k to have some sort of emergency oxygen bottle even though they say you can be above 10k for up to 30 minutes without it , it's obviously the smartest choice because Hypoxia can set in, everyone's bodies react slightly different to altitude.
@huffpappy4 ай бұрын
Little Camas reservoir? Did you feel hypoxic? I once flew my hang glider to that altitude without oxygen in Arizona, and definitely felt it. Nice flight!
@DesertMountainAdventures4 ай бұрын
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! I did not have supplemental oxygen, I kept checking myself and made sure not to stay up above 10k for more than 30 minutes, but hindsight I would have some sort of oxygen supply to supplement to be on the safe side, my hands did get pretty darn cold though!

The title makes it sound like you were flying during the eclipse. That aside, I want to get a paramotor so bad.

I was it was just a partial though unfortunately so it didn't get dark, that would have been amazing. You should definitely get into paramotoring though it's a life changer! I'd be happy to help, check out my site and feel free to reach out! Www.desertmountainadventures.com

Hello dude, do you think a Qubik can be a first wing for a beginner? Thanks.
@DesertMountainAdventures Жыл бұрын
The Qubik is a great wing with tons of Safety and would be considered a Low B wing, so to answer your question it is always best to train on an A wing, I would recommend the link 2 www.desertmountainadventures.com/product-page/niviuk-link-2 over the Qubik for beginners. That being said it is possible to start on a Qubik but much safer to start on an A wing because the Qubik will fly and land slightly faster than the Link 2. Also majority of instructors won't train new students on a B-wing so keep that in mind when making your purchase decision.

Based on your experience, do you think the Piper is safe for a brand new pilot right out of school, as their first wing? Or would it be a better idea to start with the Baja? Btw, I have no interest in acro. I just want to cruise around and explore. Safety and speed are my two biggest wants for a wing, mainly to cut through headwind.

Is this a wing someone fresh out of school could fly?
@DesertMountainAdventures Жыл бұрын
I would not recommend this wing for a beginner, it is a high B wing, so you should have at least 50-100 hours under your belt first.
