i got to hear about this band from a film called manhunter, this song was played by francis dollarhyde in his home just before the shootout scene. when i heard this song i thought wow this is different, and the vocalist's voice is really something else. this track grew on me to the point i had to buy iron butterfly's greatest hit and other cd's, their music is wonderful and a pleasure to listen too. if i never saw the film manhunter the first hannibal lecter movie then i probably would never of heard of this song or the band, but wow thank god i did...

This is live in the TV studio! Wow. Great, maaaan. Drummers, check out the solo and the tuning of the toms. He doesn't have to show off 'cos he's playing melodic phrases most of the time. Really really impressed. This is kind of better than the album version. What a find! (Best one I've seen since Prince's live 16-minute Purple Rain.)

Nah, I was wrong. I thought the vocal was the only overdub initially, but after the fourth time watching I started noticing not every action synced with the visuals even though they know their recorded parts inside out, clearly. also, i was underestimating how much effort went into creating the overall ambience and texture by the album's engineer, not something that realistically could be knocked out by a random TV sound mixer. They're amazing at miming though. If only they'd been given a mic stand as a prop for the sake of verite, I might never have realized!

Hard to believe this was 54 years ago! Doug Ingle,Lee Dorman(RIP),Ron Bushy(RIP)and Erik Brann(RIP). I was 10 years old and this song was way ahead of its time.

I just came across this clip and holy shit I'm old but I remember that day. I got to hang out an watch them and It was fun. Yeah RIP to Ron, Erik and Brann. I haven't heard anything about Doug in years but I sure did love the music.
