Beth, thank you so very much! I've watched a number of interesting videos about (basket) willow, trying to gain clarity about harvesting it, and not only has yours made that clear, it gave me the great boon of learning that I can "reinvest" my harvest to grow additional plants!!! And I've followed your instructions here in Vermont, in mid-March, and I'm very excited to see what comes of it. Thank you, thank you!

Hello from Washington State, United States. Thank you for this tutorial! I’ve been watching many Willow weaving tutorials so I can learn how to weave the basketry willow that I’m growing. You are an excellent teacher.

Beth I'm excited, we finished planting up our willows today and they have buds on them coming! They are all bareroot not cuttings like yours. I can't wait to try new things with willow, especially maybe I'll create a living structure someday!

Thank you for such a helpful video! I will watch your other video next. We finally have a property that we can call our own and I'm so excited that we had an order of willow delivered yesterday and we'll start planting out today. They are bareroot and nice long stems so I will cut them this winter I guess for coppicing. I'm just learning so any advice is welcome. Is it ok to cut them this coming winter?

Hi Mary I plant 30 cm length and pencil thickness or thicker cuttings and i coppice every year, unless i want to have 2yr old rods. i coppice from end of november to mid march.

@@bethmurphy903 Thank you Beth, I've been writing notes all about coppicing etc. and I'll make sure I note that down. We have two existing willows growing just far enough apart I thought they'd look cool as an arch. (They are still quite young) So we planted a few more in line with them today so they will form a short tunnel arch ( I hope!) I can' wait to get creative with them and underplant maybe with primrose.

Hi Beth, I'm so glad I found your video. I've been given my partner's willow circle to reshape and decided on a dragon, been looking for some tips on a living willow one but couldn't find anything until this. Your approach, partly abstract, is perfect and you totally inspired me. This is what I'm going to aim for... Thank you! (Hana in Cornwall)
