I loved loved loved this stream! Couldn't catch it live - but have watched it multiple times since! I used to think Jagan and Mervyn was magic! Jagan and Manoj is proving to be equally good! I recall another stream with the 2 of you which is possibly one my all time favorite KZbin videos. There's something raw, very real and extremely relaxing about the vibe the 2 of you bring. Just shows that simple conversations, packed with meaning and deeper thoughts can be way more entertaining than a bunch of snazzy graphics, sound effects, guest bits and so on. Kudos to the both of you!

Glad to see such videos from you again! I used to be a massive fan of "Just Kadhaikalam" - religiously tuning in every week and really miss it! I hope I can catch this live at some point - absolutely love your nuanced takes on complex topics!

Cinema pesuvom is kind of a conversation - everyone can relate 100% what you guys are discussing. Koundamani week - na avaroda ella comedy yum ellarukum theriyum, and more like we expect antha padathoda comedy pathi pesunga, intha comedy pathi pesunga - and you do it too. So there meeting the expectations = 200%. But in standup - you are trying new topics/new things, it may click for few not for others, ex- Praveen avaroda ponnu kooda nadantha oru visayam solraar na, a father (with daughter) can relate that, a father of boy also may relate to some extend, but that will be grey area for a bachelor. Even the generations matter, ennoda appa and sister ku antha visayam set aagama irukkalam, enakkum ennoda daughter kum set aagum. It is the same for other things, when you say IT jokes, others working in some other industry may not catch it 100%. It is like எல்லாருக்குமே நல்லவனா வாழணும்னு try panra mathiri than. You cannot make everyone to laugh for all jokes. If you try to research about everyone and try to write a joke that matches everyone, then it will lose its authenticity and organic factor. I think you guys are just starting, first 2 years nalla beginning ah start panneenga, then Covid pandemic happened. Lost 3 years and everything set to 0 now. Marubadiyum ippo than restart pannirukeenga, so it will take some more time. You guys continue your work and you will shine one day 👍🏼 Prime and Netflix asking for your time to make an episode in their platform - அந்த நாள் வெகு தூரத்தில் இல்லை. All the best.

Thalaiva, this review is how a standup comic reviews another standup comic's special. This is utterly useless for the audience looking to watch the show because, > one, it reveals the subject of the show which might work better if the audience will go knowing nothing about it, > two, it's not worth spending 18.5 minutes talking or watching a review about a standup show in a serious tone, > three, what are those lessons in the end? Are you talking to yourself in the name of a review? If at all you need to review a standup special which are anyway very few in Number for the greater Tamil diaspora, > one, Keep it under 5 minutes if you're going to get creative, under 3 minutes if there's no effort involved. > two, Do not even accidentally reveal about anything related to the content of the show. > three, Suggest which section of the society would find the special most relevant. (Eg. Gen-z workforce, 90s kids, middle-aged uncles, women, senior citizens, etc) Honestly, I hope you don't slack away the potential you have. You're way more funny and creative than SA naturally but SA is a big name today purely because the meticulous efforts and earnestness he has for the profession. - From a big fan of your work.

Maybe a topic for future episodes: Why does it take so long for someone to get half decent at standup comedy? Especially in college competitions, the people are objectively unfunny and it's so painful to watch them perform. But it's understandable that it takes hundreds of bad performances before they evolve into a good one. What is it about cracking a joke that takes so long to perfect as a stage performance when it's something people do very easily in their everyday lives? As an audience, I don't want to come to smaller shows or open mics to watch some mid comedian/beginner learn. Standup comedy is very "hit or miss" and nobody wants to spend money on the off chance that it is a miss. That's why the hesitation to watch live shows or only go to live shows when I have heard from a person that the show is actually good. The Habitat in Mumbai has this format called Midnight Surprise which counters that hesitation to a large extent. Can you talk about why it takes so long to become funny in the first place?

Hi Samyukta ... This is a very astute observation. The effortlessness of great standup comedians sometimes gives us the impression that being funny is some natural talent that we get by birth. Trust me, I used to believe that to be the case. In fact if you go and check out many stand up comedian interviews they always say that some friend in their group is extremely funny than them. Being funny in real life and being a stand up comedian is not the same thing. This effortlessness exuded by some top tier comedians, and the nature of an art form like standup comedy, makes us think that it might not require the same effort and learning as it is required for someone to become good at music or sports etc. Say, If you really like violin music and buy a violin today you won't be able to create music out of it immediately. To play even one clean sounding note in that instrument takes a very long time. To become a violinist and play a song will take years of practice. To become a very good violinist it takes perfection and experience. Being a comedian is exactly like that. It takes years and years of practice and perfection to even find a voice. But why would I pay money to watch a stand up comedian learn? Fair question. I would ask the exact same question if I were you. Fortunately or Unfortunately the nature of the art form dictates the presence of live audience. A joke is like Schrodinger's cat - As long as it is inside your mind it is both funny and not. Only when it is delivered in front of an audience and elicits a reaction we'll know whether whatever we wrote is even a joke😄. That is why we request your presence for live shows. Maybe not every show but an occasional random show featuring comedians you don't know might actually be one of the best shows you ever attended.🙂

Hi sir, I share my experience... During the covid lockdown, only I explored Tamil stand-up comedy shows. Obviously, your Harris stand-up video came on my feed, and I watched. Literally not a single comic worked for me; literally, I was like, "Why is the audience laughing for these comics?" But days went on, and then I saw Cinema Pesuvom episodes. Slowly understood the stand-up comedy-type jokes. Like after 5 to 6 episodes, I was too addicted to your guys comic style, and after watching the entire series (both season 1 and season 2), once the series was completed, I literally watched all your videos on your KZbin channel, e.g., all your standup comedy, your special interviews during lockdown with Manoj, Mervin, and Praveen Sir; Building 18 Comedy performing artists; Chocku, Williams, and your chess shows with Manoj; your review shoes with Mervin; cricket shows, etc. Since I completed all the videos on your guys KZbin channel. I again saw that Harris video (which didn't work for me the first time). Guess what? Every joke got connected for me. I believe this is because for 1 year I was used to your comic style. But if you take a normal comedy artist, for example, when I saw the Bramanandham Ghilli movie comedy at first instance itself, it got connected, and we laughed, but we didn't know who Bramanandhan and his comic style were before, but even though it is connecting... In my case, luckily I saw Cinema Pesuvom, and I understood your comic style. But here what question arises? How many people will get a second chance like me to understand stand-up comedians comic style? As you guys know, many people seeing standup comedy for the first time and putting comments like, Why are these guys laughing? and they move on to other videos... "How are you guys going to bridge this gap between the Tamil audience and stand-up comics?" I believe once the audience cracked your comic style, they will be your regular audience, like me. If possible, your time permitting, please discuss these points in your next video, sir. Thanks 😊

அலெக்ஸ் தானே first.

Amazing initiative. Even though Stand-up comedians are booming, yet many people don't know the idea of it. It's nice that you took a step forward to help your peers. You can include anyone with you like a conversation along with review. Great work 👏 Note: I too feel it's really important to talk about MENTAL HEALTH in today's world. I wish to see Rajashekhar Mamidanna's work too gain a lot of views he just posted it yesterday on his KZbin channel.
