Hi Paul, there is no set time frame on how long they last. But they are made from acid resistant stainless steel and expected to have a lengthy life span.

I don't understand why the lever has to be lifted up for it to activate. Three times the bait has been eaten and it hasn't triggered. I have caught numerous others but it depends if the bait is eaten in situ or tried to move it away.
@thegreatgatsby81802 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Initially I have faced the problem too. I am dealing with small mice who doesn't lift the thing up.
@1envsolutions82 жыл бұрын
Due to the design the bait has to be placed right under the lever. The aim is to provoke the rat to put its mouth under the lever, setting off the trap and not giving it a chance to get away.
@1envsolutions82 жыл бұрын
For small mice, we now offer the Black Cat Nano. The Nano's smaller size allows it to fit underneath kitchen units.

Why not just install a backwater valve that is cut into the sewer line that does not leave gapes to trap waste and or paper . This device seems to look as if on the edges it will trap waste and block drainage . They have Backwater waste valves .
@1envsolutions82 жыл бұрын
Hi Phil, these devices are used thought the pest control industry and have been for years. They have proved to provide a safe and effective proofing method and even though they provide a snug fit in a drainage pipe, they have not been known to cause any blockages.

They are designed to be powerful traps to kill the target species instantly. There are laws in place to make sure when pest controllers use the trap, they do not effect non-target species. But yes you are right it does look mean!

Can Baby Mice or baby rat get in?
@1envsolutions82 жыл бұрын
The drainguard is designed to provide a snug fit into the drainage system, meaning baby mice/rats should not be able to get through.

This is a best lethal trap for any rodents/big rats. I used them to protect my car from bandicoots chewing wires, this works 100%. The bait should be a piece of tomato pierced into the trigger and sprinkled with oats on it.

@1envsolutions82 жыл бұрын
The Fenn trap is definitely a great trap to use for controlling rodents, but I have to say the Black Cat is up there. It is a very popular trap among pest controllers in the UK.
@ourfottos15604 жыл бұрын
Not a serious trap. The springs are cr@p. and dont hit the rats hard enough so that the bigger ones get away with a sore head only!
@1envsolutions82 жыл бұрын
Sadly there can be times where the rats manage to sneak away from a trap however, this is a tried and tested trap showing a great track record of being a highly efficient trap. Making sure the bait is directly underneath the trigger is very important. This means the rat will have their head over where the kill bar will drop when the trap gets set off, leading to a swift and humane kill.
@doctorpanigrahi9975 Жыл бұрын
Bollocks ! No rat can survive the impact.
@jamesgrant36614 жыл бұрын
Wish I'd known. But I'm much more bothered about the number of rats that these let go. I have two of these and bout half the time, the trap is triggered but no rat. The bait left behind. Guess they are all trap-shy now and wont come anywhere near the traps.
@1envsolutions82 жыл бұрын
Using a attractant or re-secnt product works well on traps, it helps entice rats to the trap, improving rodent acceptance.
@benbeardmore27374 жыл бұрын
Your collar will be felt shortly! And you'll be sorry! These traps are currently being seized by the police under instructions from DEFRA as they do not comply with the legal requirements under the Pests Act. They are imported from India and have not gained approval for inclusion on the "Spring Trap Approval Order 2020" Consequently it is illegal both to offer them for sale or to use them. The STAO list can be seen here:- www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2018/1190/schedule/made. They have no safety catch and testing shows that rats escape as the springs are not strong enough. It was also found that the mechanism which is enclosed is prone to getting clogged up. Sensitivity cannot be adjusted like you can on a Fenn. You can get a full independent report here www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133460780349 Best to avoid completely.
