The error in Duolingo causing the timeline to reset seems to have been overcome - after completing a the 1st 2 lessons in this new section, I've finally been able to start the 3rd lesson. Also: Planning to split my duolingo videos into its own channel - coming soon!

Didn't have a very good run today - made 4 mistakes in the lesson.

2x for today - 1 practice + 1 radio (including reading its transcript)... made a similar mistake, similar to yesterday, in the practice (esa vs esta). radio was a perfect score.

OK just checked it out, seems like a curated list of youtube videos: e.g. www.dreamingspanish.com/watch?series=651b0672fd25c09504171bd2&episode=6508406fe4481fc9c99fba6e ... but there's no interactivity in the lessons - i.e. no typing, no speaking, no selecting word order, etc - only listening. Or am I missing something?

@bgraetz it's called comprehensible input. I've went from not knowing simple words, to understanding native people speaking to me and I can speak back to them, in only 7 months! You should really put some time into it, as duolingo doesn't help you with that. Check on the FAQ videos on there

I agree with the original post. Give it a try for at least one month, and you will be surprised how much you learn by just watching videos. I was skeptical at first, but I can now have conversations with native speakers after watching those videos for a while.

Sean: Oh wow that is pretty fast, IIRC I took 2+ years to get to this point. (I'm about 5 years into using Duolingo for Spanish now) > to understanding native people speaking to me and I can speak back to them, in only 7 months!

Cuanto cuesta el duolingo plus? Creo que deberias ir a un pais hispanohablante y ahorrar la suscripcion mensual de duolingo, aprenderias mucho mas rapido

El costo de Duolingo está menos que el costo de viajar a Latinoamerica o España para mi. Más o menos 40 horas or 16 horas para volar a esos lugares también.

Ehh, pero definitivamente yo aprendería mucho más rapido en esos paises, ¡por supuesto! Recientemente visité los estados unidos, y hable con hispanohablantes durante 2 horas seguidas. Probablemente aprendí hasta 2 meses de Duolingo allí mismo. 😉

Yo no estoy un maestro, desfortunadamente. Todavía estoy aprendiendo. Mi recomendación: Haz 5 minutos de Duolingo cada día. Y de vez en cuando, habla con un hispanohablante nativo también. Eso es lo que estoy haciendo!

Por supuesto - aprender idiomas no es fácil, especialmente cuando se empieza en la edad de adulta. Ahora mismo solo estoy en el nivel 5 de 8.
