I think something was wrong with Mike that night, something besides the tonsil cancer. He came on stage pretty late [usually the turnaround between acts at Pier 17 is under ten minutes, for Social D it was over fifteen] and he kept rambling in between songs. In fact, they had to cut a couple songs because they ran out of time! Maybe he had had a couple beverages before the performance, maybe his flight/cab/train/bus was delayed so he got in late and didn't have a chance to warm up? Bad Religion put on a killer performance that night and Lovecrimes did too so I can't get too upset. As for the facing away from the stage? I have no idea why Mike does that.

Saw them in Chula Vista, CA which is a large outdoor venue with a capacity of 20K and it was full. Maybe one or two songs his voice was not up to par, but it could have been the sound system. Seen an excellent recording of that concert on KZbin that did not have the drop outs we experience on a couple songs.

​@@marcusbergeron8505I was in Slidell by accident. I was supposed to leave from New Orleans but missed the train so I had to take a cab from NOLA to Slidell to meet the train there. Definitely don't recommend that. 😅 Slidell station is pretty good as far as Amtrak stations go. There's a covered platform and an enclosed station. IIRC, the station was closed when I was there though. Amtrak doesn't do security. It's nothing like flying. You show up twenty minutes before your train is supposed to leave and then you get on the train. No metal detectors, no x-rays, no pat-downs, no groping. It's the dignified way to travel.
