I FINALLY FOUND IT!!! THE OPENING TO MY FAVORITE TRACK STRAY CHILD WOOHOO

I played this when my power turned off

Entire hospital sequence was the most genius thing in entire series. It's like hospital is alive and actively react to your actions. When you enter, the hospital welcomes you with variety of sounds. Then after cut-scene it's just one constant quiet sound, while exploring empty rooms and corridors with no monster around, keep adding new sounds. Then basement have it's own sound and throws very few easiest monsters for some action. After restoring the power to elevator it's back to constant quiet sound again. You check second floor, but the lock is jammed. You check third floor, the lock is jammed again, but all sounds come back, reacting to your sigh of relieve that things won't repeat like with school. Since there is nothing left to explore, you go back and now there's a 4th floor button on a panel. I just can't put into words how perfectly executed this sequence was. And this is not the only one great thing about this game.

I remember this room so well from my first playtrhough of this game all those years ago. This was the first moment that really scared me shitless with this game, i almost shut off my PS2 😳. It still to this day gives me the creeps, one of the best ambient noises i have ever heard

sadly they didn't put this in the remake that was peak sound designing

In finnish, carousel = karuselli. It's actually a combination of two words if you separate it from the middle; karu selli = bleak cell. Pretty fitting for a nightmarish device like this 😅

The Woodside Apartments inspired me to write a short story many years ago about two twin girls in their early teens who take their little nephew to a dillapidated apartment building and force him to play hide and seek whereupon he meets the many deranged and bizarre tenants that occupy it

It's reminiscent of many dreams that I've had where I'm wandering through bizarre hallways and falling down bottonless pits of infinite darkness and I feel as though I've been dreaming for an entire lifetime

This is really profound. It enters your mind like a dark echo in an empty night.
