Well, I can relate! My goal is all the things that I didn't finish during the year are becoming Christmas presents for this year! 🤷🏻♀️😉🎄 They were meant to be birthday gifts and other things but distractions kept getting in the way so I'm attempting this new plan instead! 🤞🏻

Thanks! 😊 At least that way I'm not quitting, just persevering until things are done! Patience is a virtue as they say, and they were mostly things I just decided I wanted to make but for most of them the people didn't know, so they won't know it was meant to be for another time. Better late than never! 😉

It was me who suggested you make a cheery Christmas 🎄 cardigan for Maddy with Christmas buttons, so that was quite a thrill to hear and see that! It's turning out really nicely! 😃 Those hanks look beautiful, I can see a lovely cocoon cardigan from that for yourself, something to get all wrapped up and cosy in. 🤗

Oh dear, it's the one step forward and seven steps back scenario at the moment isn't it!?? You know what though, with your positive "I can do this" attitude it's going to happen, they'll all get done and boy can I relate, I'm sure many of us can! We all have things we tire of working on but then each thing that does get done feels so satisfying, so your "aaah, I did it" time is coming! You help keep me accountable too! 😊🌼

Ivy # 2 for timeless colors, but if it’s a fun cheery project go with 1. 🧶🧶🥰
@alwayslearning92722 ай бұрын
I think you're getting the selection you wished for based on what I'm seeing in the comments, and I tend to agree. The lighter green is more lively and perhaps better for a child's garment, but the ivy looks a lot more sophisticated, classic and traditional. I'm thinking Maddy would look great in a macaw, white and the coral pinkish red cardigan in thinish stripes for Christmas day, she'd love it! :) Maybe with some fun Christmas themed buttons down the front, cos you sound like you need more projects to do! :) You brighten up my day so much and give me a smile and a chuckle every time I watch one of your videos, so thanks for your joyful and bright personality, you're a gem!

1 is fun. 2 is classy. Decide based on your style. Both will be extraordinary.

I think it all depends on the look you want. Macaw looks more whimsical/youthful, the Ivy looks more classic/elegant. Both would be beautiful.

Ok, so that's enough set backs now, c'mon universe, have some compassion on this poor woman! When you thought you couldn't get any more of the yarn you were so disappointed and rightly so, but then you found it, so I know you will find the answer that you need to make this right as well! Is there any way to just add on somewhere, like make a separate panel to join onto what you've already done perhaps? That may be a stretch idea but just something that came to mind, but I'm sure by now you've had some ideas of your own as well. Just think there's going to be an upcoming video in the near future where you show us this all complete, finished, and telling us how everything worked out and you got it done, focus on that! All the best :)

I just finished a cardigan for my mom. It was frustrating. I made her try it probably ten times while I was working on it. It took me three times longer to finish. Clothes making is complicated. I would make a small easy project just to feel like I accomplished something. Then I would go back to working on this sweater.

They look really lovely, especially the earthy tones, thanks for showing us! Can I ask please, did you make any adjustments to the cardigan from what you've done so far? I am asking because I clicked on the link you provided (thank you for doing that) but when I looked at their pictures it looked quite different from yours, and while theirs was nice as well it looked more gappy/holey with the linen stitch that they used whereas yours looked like more filled in stitches if that makes sense, and I kind of liked how yours looked more than the original pattern, so I wanted to ask if you'd done anything differently? If not and if you did also use the linen stitch could it be because you double stranded perhaps? Is there another stitch that you could recommend that I could use instead, in order to have a less holey looking cardigan? I really like the shape of theirs and think they did the sleeves really well, and the overall construction is quite good, but I'd just like to have a more filled in look without the gaps, so if you can suggest anything I'd be very grateful! Thanks :)
@creatinga_happierme3 ай бұрын
Hi! I double checked the link I posted, just in case. I so far have done exactly as the pattern has stated, with the exception of double stranding fingering weight, which is supposed to be equivalent to DK. I did see what you were mentioning though. I’m not sure if it’s my tension, or the fact it’s not being worn. Now I’m curious how it will be on. I did choose this because I wanted a closer knit stitch. The only other stitches I would recommend are single crochet or half double, to be tighter. I will definitely keep you posted on this one! Let me know what you find.

Oh how wonderful, what a fantastic birthday present to actually find the yarn that you wanted to find, that's amazing, I'm so thrilled for you!! I'm just ecstatic that you were able to track it down when it seemed like a hopeless situation at first, what a wonderful outcome!! I will definitely look at the pattern for it and can't wait to see it completed. I think I like the anticipation of a progression of videos showing different things from start to finish but segmented, so not everything all together, builds the anticipation too! All those blankets sound so fun, and the pumpkin house with the witches legs, I can't, stop it!!! Too much fun, aren't people so creative and inventive, that should be submitted to a show of some kind, wonderful! We just recently had an event here that's held every year called the Royal Adelaide Show and there are several different pavilions in the showgrounds where you can look at all kinds of things. My favourite one has glass cabinets that have a selection of things, cakes that are decorated, embroidery, knitted items and crocheted ones too, and I saw the most wonderful things there and took some photos for inspiration. Something like your pumpkin house would win first prize I'm sure! I can imagine a fun pair of slippers using some of the elements from the house, wouldn't that be fun!?? I will keep tuned for continued updates on all the wonderful things you're making and couldn't be happier about the yarn find, I am sure you feel the same! How did you obtain it in the end, how was it that someone had it available for you to purchase?? Must find out the rest of the story!! :) I know you said that you got it on eBay but was it someone who stocks discontinued yarn specifically, how did you track it down? I'd love to find out the full story of your search!

I would search on Etsy, ravelry, eBay, and just the Internet as a whole (in that order) using the exact name you put here. You'd be surprised at what's out there that could be exact. If you can't find any and choose to color block, use the search term - substitution for *name of yarn* which would give you similar yarn choices so the look and feel of the color blocking area is the same. Would it work to make it a vest or a short sleeve cardigan instead? Or maybe just color block half the sleeve?
