Great video. I lived in Antwerp for a year back in the early 1990's when Germinal still played in Ekeren and Beerschot were in Hoboken. I took an interest in Royal, and as such they have always been the Belgian team I have followed, even after that GBA fiasco. I worked out near Boom who had a really good second division team, the rumour in Belgium at the time was that they kept avoiding promotion because they made more money in the second division. It was great to see a round up of present day teams with a reminder of some of the teams I remember, nice that you included Beerschot too 😁

Miccoli was also conspicuously absent from the Azurri in the 2000's. I remember reading suggestions/confusions about his relationship with Marcello Lippi and that his absence from the national team may have had something to do with Lippi managing Juve before Calciopoli and the azurri after. I love this video but i remember feeling like he was a hero for testifying in the calciopoli scandal. I'll never forget his PK approach and still wear his Palermo jersey proudly

More or less the same predictions across the board for the semis, bar Portugal, I'm hoping it's not as predictable as this, but looks most likely. I'm not looking forward to the banter heading our way when France beat England in the semis, I just hope it's not on penalties this time 😂

SAKA at left back for England? He has played there for Arsenal and in the absence of a true left-footer for left back it might be a worthwhile consideration ... If it was felt that he might offer the necessary cover, it would give us his attacking prowess and enable Cole Palmer - with his talent - a place on the right. I'd be thinking about it. Jim.

I hope we will ram your 'not that great' comment down your throat but sadly you're probably correct about 4th place (for Scotland) as we've now lost 4 key players to injury including recently voted the Serie A best midfielder Lewis Ferguson, and also both of our right-wing backs, and striker. They are key to how we play so it's going to probably go down to how you predicted sadly.

Cud be right, best i,ve seen so far , think there will be major surprises this time tho as no team is dominant in europe at the moment, england look good on paper but often bottle it, good outsiders are turkey hungary and austria, i maybe do a treble for these to reach the last 8 it wud buy a few pints after its all over or to watch Germany v England final down the pub.

I understand why you would think this of romania but they did face a really inform colombia and had a result of 3:2, which since the start of 2023 only 3 other country's has done, no other country scoring more than 2 against colombia since 2020. Since the start of 2023 ,Germany, Brazil, and the USA all failed to score, not scoring a single goal. so romania had a better performance than than Germany and brazil against colombia in the last year. Romania obviously went undefeated in their qualifying group, but also, since the start of 2022, out of the 22 games they played during that time ,they only lost 6 games. They scream of dark horse. BTW I'm not romanian. I'm mexican.

Since I accidentally posted that as a reply: Italy is in the trickiest group I guess. Spain + neighbors is always a bad sign. But yh, I do hope Italy will be in great form, firstly because I've always supported you guys, and secondly because it'd mean that certain matches will be 3 times more entertaining if your players become more serious... I can only imagine the kinds of goals. Sadly, I've always hoped the same for Serbia back in the day, and they really weren't fulfilling their potential during the biggest matches...

Now, that's a topic I could be interested in every year xD I truly like very few of them in practice but some really stand out and tempt me to spend money on them. Mostly a fan of the simplest or most old-school/classic stuff but depends on colors (mainly), the small details etc, every bit matters.
@themondayleague3 ай бұрын
Indeed, every year there are gems in there which stand out with their detailing and meaning. Which has been your favourite kit of the past season?
@hawkstrike183 ай бұрын
@@themondayleague I guess the most recent time I truly checked out the whole topic was whenever Dortmund decided to make that black coal best seller, which I didn't stand a chance of getting, obviously. It wasn't this season, right? Haha I usually like Roma's colors, and maybe anything like Wolves' orange shirts (hmm I should have kept an eye on them, but I never did). Otherwise I'd probably pick something purple - and/or German (half of these are always nice, from the bright green to the mostly black ones). I haven't done my homework though, was back to betting this year but I generally don't pay enough attention. And I rarely get a real chance to watch actual matches, so... iirc I appreciated certain kits from the second league of Spain too, plus the green one Feyenoord wore in some games. Could go on, especially if I had researched that, but I didn't buy anything :s (I guess I don't mention any of the currently huge clubs on purpose, deep inside... Inter's are indeed inter-esting lately tho). P.S. Granted, I only bought 4 shirts in my life, way back in the day (I think ...2009-10 was the last one). Even with the most classic shirts, I really wonder if there's any place to wear them if you're not going to stadiums and fan gatherings... I went playing football in the ones I had and I ended up regretting it in 2 out of the 4 times, if you know what I mean.

Roma fan here (I just miss that era, not so interested in football nowadays although it's still enjoyable to some extent), and I've always been fond of Fiorentina and Palermo due to this guy as well. Midway through the video atm and I'm ready to see how he fell from grace too. Many of the old-school "heroes" of our teen years just hit different now, especially after understanding how petty they were/had been, later on. Sadly, football has never been clean and it'll never be. But everything can be enjoyed for what it really is. Seems like Italy won't be able to return to its golden era and celebrate to such extents but Roma and Fiorentina and Atalanta, and maybe others too, will continue getting close to celebrate... This season, I guess my country (Greece) ended up getting more European trophies but just the comparison feels wrong to me. Italians were on another level football wise, and we on the other hand mostly rely on different things to win, atm... There's some talent and heart/passion, but... you don't want me to start to criticize each player/guy, and the organizations. At least we historically know how to pick some foreigners, which makes up for the national shortcomings lately. I'd argue some of the past squads deserved a trophy more than any of the current ones. In basketball and other sports, things are actually better and a bit more healthy for sure. But enough of my off topic. I'll have to go through the rest videos too and maybe feel even more nostalgic, after finishing this one. Cheers, keep enjoying things, ppl.

@@themondayleague there's reason for China can't develop good footballers in last two decades, i.e corrupt/game fixed/poo youth system understandably. you have bone size development lagged from 12 yo onward you can't beat them white and black body size don't you, also lack of success case like Mitoma, Hwang Hee Chan and Sonny, not saying Korean and Japanese football are perfect, but we all had a bureaucratic system which is robust, people kind of understand How China works, but only Chinese can really explain Chinese way (economy, business, sports, history and etc). same apply to Guangzhou FC, it was not sustainable, real estate owner had so much finance source from Private equity, trust funds, stocks and etc to sign players, but football industry isn't profitable at any point! Now we went through real estates crisis and avoid real recession and stock crashed, giving this team a chance to reborn and do it in a right way, it is what real supporters wanted to see, and this is the only right way!!😁

I think I know who I have to support, at least based off my username Jokes aside that league format looks like it can give a much more interesting league than most others, and it probably gives more different champions and underdog stories as just finishing top of the league in the beginning, even by 10 points or something pretty dominant, won’t give you that much of an advantage in the championship playoffs due to the points being halved to only 5 ahead, which in 10 games can definitely be overcome (as is being shown with USG finishing 7 points top but after losing their first 2 championship playoff games are only top on goal difference). The whole 3 tier system also makes the league more engaging and gives fans a lot more to be excited about as even if you finish from 7th-12th you can still get European football. It also shares the upper-lower playoff system that German football has that I particularly like. Overall I think that the league has a great concept that lets it stand out among the rest of Europe, and I will definitely pay more attention to it in the future. Out of the clubs I like the look of St Truiden as they seem to have a lot of young talents, and I like that they help develop Japanese talents. Also you seemed to speak good things about them. 19 YO Mathias Delorge looks like a bright young talent in their midfield that could definitely become a top player.
