Beautiful! I am so happy I found a fellow So Cal gardener 😊 I appreciate your insight. What type of soil do you use? I have been having a hard time finding good soil at my local nurseries. Looking forward to more videos. Take care.

Welcome! I am so glad you found me too. It's so nice to connect with another SoCal Gardener! Thanks so much for that kind comment. I usually use Miracle Grow Moisture Control Soil for my containers. I haven't ever had a problem with that brand but some people from other areas say that they have experiences some issues with white mold in some cases. I haven't seen that yet, but that's not to say that it won't ever be an issue. So far so good. I wish I could find the Proven Winners soil but as you know, it's really hard to find in our area. As for my raised beds, we have switched from Miracle Grow Organic Raised Bed Soil to Kellogg Organic Raised Bed Mix. It seems to do better and it's a little cheaper. I have found the best price at Lowes. Hope this helps and have a great New Year!

Even though you have been busy with your job and the holiday season- your yard looks beautiful. I have nine rose trees/bushes. Last year I started planting daffodil bulbs. I love tulips- so I might have to invest in some bulbs. Thanks for sharing. You are an excellent teacher. Northern California gardener.
@williamsgardening15 күн бұрын
Aww, thanks so much. Oh I’m sure your daffodils will be stunning in the spring when they come back this year. Tulips are amazing but daffodils are so reliable here. I wish Tulips came back for us. Does it get cold enough where you are for tulips or will you have to do like us… prolonged refrigeration before planting?
@lesellen785012 күн бұрын
@@williamsgardening I have never refrigerated bulbs before...not sure if I would follow those instructions. ha ha Our weather is similar (summer) and colder (winter). More time outdoors (in the garden) for your family and you in 2025.🌞🌻

Enjoyed the tour! I have also had some issues with boxwood lately. If you want to replace the Green Tower, perhaps check your local Home Depot stores. One near me had large (about 3') Green Mountain boxwood that were in reindeer pots that are now 50% off. Just over $25 is a steal for a Green Mountain that size! Saw an identical one today at Green Thumb for $84.

Pruning is the one job in the garden that scares most people,me included,it’s great to see someone doing the hard pruning and seeing the result it brings. So love watching your videos,thank you ! ❤
@williamsgardeningАй бұрын
You know, that's what I was thinking when I originally planning the cut back. There's very few who have filmed a major prune and I just needed to see that success before committing to such a big change. Glad my video could show the process and I hope that it will help people feel confident to do the same if they are thinking of it. Thanks for being such a valuable subscriber. Your comments are always much appreciated. Have a great day!

I enjoyed the maintenance video. Great to see your son, too. Does he like to help/be in the garden? Thanks.
@williamsgardeningАй бұрын
Thanks so much. Yes, he really does like to help and work in the garden. In fact, that why we decided to name our channel "Gardening with the Williamses" because we teamed on a bunch of the projects. He really is a great help and even though he's not seen in a lot of the videos, there are a lot of things that he does behind the scenes to make it all happen. He is fully in charge of the vegetable garden. That's his thing. My oldest daughter takes care of all our Instagram posts. It's kinda cool having everyone a part of the process. Have a great day!

We’ve been growing Rediculous since they replace Big Red. I have a customer I’ve been growing it for years now who buys over a hundred of it every year but the general public doesn’t buy it. Next year I’m replacing it with Main Street series Beale street. It doesn’t get the green streaks and it’s stunning. It’s from Dummen orange and you can search on KZbin to see it. ( if you’re curious) I like some of the PW coleus like watermelon mini me and El Brighto ( they brought that back) but I find others sell better for us.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for stopping by and sharing that. Yes, I will definitely be looking that up. Sounds like an amazing plant. Also, I checked out some of your videos and they are great. @@williamsgardening thank you for the compliment. I wish I had more time to do videos but it is fun. I think you’ll like a lot of the Main Street series. I wish some of the plant breeders did more marketing like Proven winners does but then their costs to the grower would go up I suppose. Check out Ball seed on KZbin to see their display gardens when they have their open house. It’s quite inspiring

Hello California neighbor! Yes, we are! I am so glad the video could be an inspiration to you. Each spring, I go into major planting mode and I needed to remember that fall can also be a great time to add color and interest to the garden as well, especially here. Oh, and thank you for the complement on the coleus. I still can't believe there's only 2 plants in each of those containers behind me: The "Rediculous" variety is the one that towers above the "Cherry Drop" trailing variety on the bottom of each container. I just happened to plant those containers up as an afterthought, thinking that just two plants in each might be a little thin. Wow, was I wrong. 😃 🌱 Have a great day!
@beh48462 ай бұрын
@@williamsgardening Super!! I wanted to ask which varieties you had, but I didn't want to bug you about it. 👏 I'll definitely look for these in the spring. I know Laura from Garden Answer raves about Rediculous. I think Coleus is severely under-rated. I'm propagating cuttings from a "Dragon Heart" in water for gifts as winter houseplants.✌🌻
