Well, dang. I hadn't noticed that. I can hear it now, but I checked and found it had 10 beats in 13 seconds. Not good at all! The pendulum is adjustable. The last time I ran it 'for time' it was only off about 5 minutes over 24 hours. At that, a more careful adjustment might improve on that. My bad. :)

Also, the reason why snout butterflies congregate around washes and small stream basins is because they need small puddles of water to replenish minerals after mating. In general if you see a bunch of butterflies all around a source of water, they are likely mostly males needing to sip ground water and replenish salts lost after breeding

I think we had an unseasonably wet summer after a very long drought. Even in the center of phoenix and tempe there's tons. Also cloudless sulfur, queen, Gulf fritilary, and sphinx moths. It's really nice seeing so many everywhere in the mornings.
