I love it when the German soldiers speak with a lisp, I imagine them all lining up and doing a can can burlesque for everyones enjoyment. All those gay Nazissssssss, sounding like hissing steam.

Back when you could disagree with a man’s entire ideology, yet still show them respect as a human being, why can’t we do that today?

I wonder what he would of done if he knew not only would he lose the war. He would lose Arlington, his health, and most of his men by agreeing to join the Confederate Army.

Fucking classic. They haven't made a good WW2 movie forever. Band of Brothers and the Pacific being the exception.

Interesting that Jackson here advocates similar ideas of waging warfare that would eventually be employed by Sherman. Not necessarily black flag and no quarter, but to maximize the brutality and violence and thereby minimize the duration of the war. Seems like the south should’ve listened to Jackson.

Lee was like so many in “America” (then and now) in that he didn’t believe in the United States as a country, but in his own State of Virginia. I think that anyone who believes in States rights about that if the country, then if the majority of those in said State feel the same, then they should not receive any benefits or power from the federal government. This is one of the core reasons why the United States has been held back from being a great country.

Lee’s failure was the first day of Gettysburg. They concentrated on capturing the town and failed to capture the high ground. A brigade and union artillery held up the entire Reb army.

Confederate snipers were winning Gettysburg. Firing and loading so fast it was like a machine gun. So much misinformation and lies about this battle. Had it not been for a Union Officer noticing the snipers and firing on the ridge, the Union would have lost. They were terribly disorganized. I'm a Rebel at heart. Lincoln was a tyrant and even the North hated him.

If Stonewall was there, the Rebs would have had the High Ground. His replacement, was way too tentative. And this was Ewell's first command as a Corp Commander. And had the Rebs had the High Ground, naturally the battle would have turned out decidedly different.

Lee didn’t get his wish. The war would continue for almost two more years, but the Confederate army had been weakened so badly at Gettysburg that it was simply a matter of attrition and time.

As a Floridian, whose father is from Richmond, and mother is from long island, I had family fight on both sides. One 3x grandfather served for the 58th north Carolina, one served in the 10th New York. They both survived the war, which is I am here. I also married a Yankee from long island, and our children will be refered to as Americans. This is one country, no matter how much they try to divide us
