When your enemy refers to you as a devil or demon, it's more of an internal defence mechanism. "I didn't lose to no puny human, I lost to a fucking demon." Such name calling helps preserve one's ego in the presence of failure.

In a way, it helps to explain why the Jedi preferred such a weapon. It made a quick and clean cut that created an intense but ultimately brief amount of pain for it's user. And the fact that such a burst of pain would be sufficient to knock a person out probably helped contribute to the Jedi's focus on nonlethal blows, as the pain of such strikes would not only remove the limb(s) of an opponent, but take them out of the fight.

They kinda don't though. They took the spartans seriously but they still ended up killing all the Spartans except for one. They were fearful or "iffy" lets say... of Masterchief because no know what they tried they couldn't kill him, he can't surviving, he kept messing things up for them, and then in the Halo one this trend continued and he destroyed one of the Halo installations earning him the name 'Demon'! They didn't fear not Spartans! They were in fact a welcome challenge compared to the rest of the human forces!

Many Elites didn’t fear Spartans some did but many didn’t specifically high ranking elites. Spartans have emotions too and some where scared. Elites feared more things like failure, dishonor, disappointment etc but not Spartans.

See we are never scared because we always se it from the Spartan’s perspective. But from an elite’s perspective it’s terrifying. Can you believe imagine how a low ranked elite must feel when he is alone knowing that they could be a Spartan watching his very movement just waiting to strike.

Loved seeing gold elites roar in frustration when the realized a sneaky human stuck a plasma grenade onto their chest. Enjoy your honor, though!

There’s a disappointing lack of more USNC weapons from previous games

Thels anger at the covenant and wanting to erase it is completely understandable. He was indoctrinated from youth by a lie, and killed billions of innocence under false pretenses. If that happened to me I wouldn't stop either till I purged the very idea
