One enemy in DS2 that litteraly no one can defend is those giants with hammers/sticks. What the actual fuck are those hitboxes, dude?

It’s actually insane how much playing dark souls 2 will improve your performance in the other games. It really reaches you to figure out spacing and not just being able to roll through everything.

I don't understand your point. The whole point of locking an enemy is to move around it and still targeting him. What is the point of attacking to the enemy's left or right while locking him ? Playing without locking to face multiple enemies is much more efficient. This system makes the gameplay confusing, it is very rarely useful and very often annoying: it forces the player to release the left stick before hitting if he wants to attack the enemy that he is locking (so 99% of cases) and therefore to stop the movement of his character, to waste time. In a very punitive game which requires a lot of rigor and leaves little reaction time it is all the more aberrant I find...

People gotta learn not to lock on and aim manually. It makes the game so much easier beacuse you can look around, sprint around enemies and backstab, avoid getting sorrounded etc
@Emulator833
@Emulator833 6 күн бұрын
This is trying to make DS2 look good by comapring it to the movement of DS1 locked on lol. DS2 movement sucks ass you can only move and roll in 8 directions whether you are locked on or not but in DS1 while locked on movement sucks, if you dont lock on you can move and roll 360. With DS3 they perfected it with it having 360 movement whether you lock on or not.

I love how you dismiss the ADP critique as simple as a Git Gud argument. It's not. ADP is essential in some playstyle especially to new players. And they don't even know that it's essential. And even when they did upgrade it. The changes aren't very apparent. And it doesn't help that its movement are janky. Which connects to the next point. The movement is slow and janky. It limits you to 8 conical directional movement and when you require a precise movement in a fight. Will fck you up. Sometimes your character will randomly turn around 360 degrees. Stopping you in your tracks. Giving chances to your opponents to backstab you. Or just makes you fall. Sometimes you dont attack your front. it turns to the side specifically because of the random turning. You roll slow, plus i frames being inconsistent until certain numbers and your attacks won't even attack where it was supposed to be. The Co-Op areas are bad even with friends. Frigid Outskirt is still frustrating as fck. The Gank Boss Fights aren't even challenging when Solo. And this guy legit thinks the Blue Smelter Demon boss run is not damnable. Even with 2 other friends this boss run is frustrating. Also, the gall of this man to say DS1's demon ruins are bad. When boss run to the Smelter Demon exist. The self jerk off for the "being respectful in PvP" thing is mind boggling. Stuff has existed since Demon's Souls. The balls of this man to say that getting swarmed is good. Unsportsmanlike? You want me to waste so much time killing the same enemies 6x just so that I don't get fcked when reaching the boss? Wtf are you smoking? THE BEST MECHANIC? Holy hell this guy LOVES wasting his time. The boss run to Smelter Demon, to Sir Alonne, to Blue Smelter Demon, Shrine of Amana, King Vendrick, and oh god so, So, SO MUCH MORE. They want you to waste so much time. Killing the same enemies over and over again. Just so that your run to the boss that's not even that good won't be frustrating. All and all, it's just the masochists talking. The slow movement plus the jank makes it the worst when it comes to movement. I feel more natural with DS1 and DeS's movement system. And since it is both janky and slow. The already bad hit boxes gets even more prevalent. So it has all that. Plus bad boss runs and enemies. That is very long and lengthy. Imagine seeing Lost Izalith's boss run and says "Let's make that normal". The gsme is very much not for me. But then these same fckers will say that DS3 is objectively the worst. The moment you tried to make an argument in defense of ADP is already proof enough that you will absolutely forgive all of this game's glaring flaws.

Honestly i feel like DS2 put a lot more emphasis on co-op (even though soul memory made it a pain). But it also fits the story, you trying to become the new monarch. A leader! With subjects and retainers! Not by being ”the chosen undead”! The game even asks ”The next monarch?” Quickly followed by ”Or merely a pawn of fate?” as to hint to the other theme of the game.

After playing all the soulsborne games and finally beating ds2, i realized something. Each game is different in their own major and minor ways. Playing ds1 like elden ring will only get you hit. It may take some time, but once you understand the flow of the game, you will prosper.

wellager's armor isnt unique to him alone, it was given out to only unique people in drangleic by the blacksmith the country hired, llewellyn. and as we see with the drang knights in ds3, they are descendants of drangleic who have genuine items from the ruined country due to them wanting to keep in touch with their legacy

In my humble opinion all souls games (except sekiro) became more fun when I stoped relying on the lock on mechanic. After I mastered that approach the fluidity felt nice, it kind of disregarded most of the mechanic limitations which definitely improved my experience and enjoyment. To this I add because not only trying to not get hit but also landing your hits felt like a more rewarding experience.

Adp was a terrible idea I’m not hating on ds2 but that was one of its dumbest mechanics especially in a game like dark souls where those 10 or more points in adp could have been better used in something like str, dex, faith or int where some people who want to still sit under that pvp level cap

DS2 doesn't have 8-directional movement, it has an axial deadzone/snapping, and only for the 4 cardinals. See EternalDahaka's video comparing movement deadzones for most of From's modern 3D ARPGs. DS1 and DS3 have no snapping. But ER notably reintroduces it, with very tiny deadzones. It's invisible to most players (no one here appears to know about it) and can assist precision, especially for controllers with drift issues. Done poorly like DS2, it obstructs small movements and feels clunky. It's good criticism for UI design that From constantly iterates on.
@raehik
@raehik 15 күн бұрын
A tangent: Not many people understand what goes into UI design for 3D ARPGs like these. Case in point, the camera in DS1 doesn't just follow a speed curve. At ~90% tilt, it switches to a faster mode, which has a brief acceleration (so as to not whip the screen around unnaturally). The DS2 camera feels imprecise because they tweaked the values here, so fast mode activates much sooner. This sucks! But it's not completely wrong, just a little off.

Yeah, the problem with ADP is that its a severe handicap. In any other DS you can level how you want and still be able to have fun. Its still fun to play say lvl1 char in ds1, since it doesn't affect any of the core mechanics, the only thing that takes the toll is time to slay enimies. Ds2 on the other hand is borderline tortures without ADP leveled to 12? Like you can't litterally dodge certain attacks with it, since they weren't designed with THAT in mind. Same goes for all other bits and pieces like not being able to clear certain locations without your weapon breaking at certain FPS, or bosses feeling like the same things with just a different smidge of paint on top, level design that makes you qiestion whether you really play Dark Souls and not demon souls reincarnate, etc. I can go on for hours about those. DS2 had a quite a few good things about it, but ADP wasn't one of them.
