Should the garage door be in the down position when you try to re connect. I am short and having a time pulling it.

No it doesn't. As long as the trolley is ready to accept the slide, then you can have the door in any position. Just use a remote or wall button to run the opener, when the slide and trolley meet, they should lock together.

Thank you so much for the info. The power went out after tropical storm/ hurricane Nicholas in Texas and I couldn’t figure out how to re-engage my garage door. Lesson learned. 👏🏾👏🏾👍🏽👋🏽
