@ShorrockPaulАй бұрын
@JoshKilen thanks will give it a try. I am concerned that as it used to run at 50 hz and approx 3000 rpm (now is 2900 rpm) that adjusting the governor is just increasing fuel consumption when in fact something else is going on.. it has fresh oil new fuel and air filters and valve clearance checked ok.. so not sure why running slower than before.. possible fuel pump needs shimming or replacing ?
@JoshKilenАй бұрын
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, no notification. It depends on a lot a factors why there might be a small drop in rpms. for one is how many hours are on the unit? if there is a lot of hours, there is just normal wear in governor system. It might use a drop more for fuel after adjustment, personally I wouldn't worry about the fuel consumption a whole lot, I am more concerned about it turning the right speed for the electrical equipment. re-shimming doesn't affect the rpms, just the timing of the injector by a tiny bit. Another thing that cause rpm drop is the vibration caused by running, if the adjustment screws/bolts aren't tight enough to prevent them from moving. hope this help. there might be more at play, but these are the most simple things that could cause the rpm drop.

@@ShorrockPaul the springs that tension the governing assembly change over time too and naturally require adjustment, altitude plays a role too.
@ShorrockPaul28 күн бұрын
@mickwolf1077 in this case altitude is not relevant as I haven't moved. Possible governor spring tension.. but it seems to have reduced speed over too short a time.. it has 1000 hrs on it. However turns out reg/rectifier wire was burned out.. ac side.. so am changing that out and see what develops.. will check stator output too (should be 30-40Vac)

Could I use this to power a small water pressure washer to clean bikes in my garage?
@JoshKilen2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately no. The reason why I say that is most small pressure washers require 13 amps or 1560 watts to run, that doesn't include the start up amps that is higher than the running current. These generators only really can handle loads that are below about 7 amps of draw.

I sorry to say but a diesel generator needs to run between 60% and 75% of its rated load to run most efficiently and prevent wetstacking.
@herewegoagain4041Ай бұрын
No! The reason u cant exceed 60% of the labeled power of these chinese gens. Is because the pamplet rating is the actual nominal watt out put. I have a pqde6500 diesel gen. It says run at 75%. Well looking at stator. There is a label that says "kt4.5-60hz". So there is the reason for the manual suggesting 75% of advertized load.
@JoshKilenАй бұрын
@@herewegoagain4041 I am sorry to say but those numbers on the stator means nothing especially when is comes to chineze part numbers. and the pamplets are just generic, and mean nothing when it comes to you and your machine. also my 60-75% of the rated load is a run of thumb when it comes to each machine. the rated load is different for each machine, the rated load is what the generator can supply at 100% duty cycle without issues. I go by what is labeled on the generator and not the pamplet.

I bought an DYT 4000 yesterday with what the previous owner said was a "blown motor". I bought it for the deck parts to use on my 42" LT 1000 that needed new spindles. So, I was gonna just swap the deck out but started fiddling with the 20HP dual cam engine and after adding some oil and fresh gas she fired off and ran 😳 So I started mowing with it lol. So that's an L I suppose... Now imma just order a deck rebuild kit for my LT1000 and have 2 mowers? Maybe a backup mower? 🤔 Sell it perhaps? I could remove the deck all together and use it as my yard mule... I haven't decided yet, but right now I'm just excited for having bought a good riding mower for a paltry $100 😁

Hi, so what is more important, voltage or hertz? I have a 1300 watt geny and I set the voltage while under 750 watt load to 120 volts. Is that good enough or should I really get a Hz tester? Is it even possible for the Volts and Hz to be that far from one another? Cheers!
@JoshKilen Жыл бұрын
it really depends, but Hz would be more important for loads. the reason why I say that is motors and electronics are designed to work at 60hz or as close to it. if they get to high or low of Hz it can cause motors to not run at there correct rpms, plus overheat and for electronic loads it can cause them to be come grumpy. my generator has it voltage controlled by a capacitor, so the voltage is set to what it is with rpms. in that case set the Hz, and the voltage will be good enough. If the voltage is not within 110-120v then the capacitor needs to be changed. but some generators come with whats called an AVR or automatic voltage regulator, which does a much better job getting the voltage where it needs to be. with those set the Hz and if the voltage is not within 110-120 then you can adjust the AVR to make it right. As for getting a Hz reading, you can buy the P3 international "Kill-A-Watt" meter and it will be just fine. May I ask what are you running that is 750 watts and what type of generator?

Is there normally a nut or something to prevent it falling off that pin in use? 2 When you’ve taken the tension off the spring it looks like there is enough space to remove the pulley without having to remove the spring. for the LHS of the bar I due believe its held on by a cotter pin. as for removing the spring I don't think I could fit my hand in there with the spring in place. main reason why is the belt has to wrapped around the pulley on the rear transmission.

I love doing that, taking an old machine and just totally dismantling it to figure it all out. Then, salvage whatever good stuff is left over. Sometimes, if I have an old electronic doohickey that I know for sure is of absolutely no use any more, I'll take the printed circuit boards with all the goodies, take a 12 volt car battery with a copper wire from each of the battery posts, and just drag the two leads across all the stuff on the PC board. Wow, sometimes it's like the 4th of July!!!! All kinds of popping and cracking and sparking and smoking going on. Gotta be sure a door and a window are open for a draft of fresh air, some of that electronic smoke is toxic and not good to breathe. Some of the old capacitors go off like little bombs. Gotta wear eye protection for that, too. Anyway, have a good weekend.

Good update, Josh. Sounds like you've got those gensets dialed in pretty well. Good to have those on hand, especially during storm season. I've got a couple Honda's and one Generac 6500. During a recent ice storm here in Oklahoma, power was out almost 5 days, the Honda's kept most everything going. The Generac did okay keeping the water well (230 volt) going but kept blowing oil out the crankcase vent. I double checked to be sure the oil level was not too high. It was 'spot-on' at the correct level but still blows out about a cup of oil on an extended run. Been dodging tornadoes the past few days and crazy wild fires that destroyed 40 homes on Friday. Crazy times we are living in. Keep up the good work and stay safe!
