Man, sorry about that, but the original was so much better. I loved that moment where he says "and never ever eat pears". First, that's kinda funny ngl, and second, even if you don't like the joke, I think a moment like that in the speech is needed. It's a speech of hope and about moving forward while never forgeting who you used to be (like 11's regeneration), the doctor is ready to regenerate, and so is positive about it, and that moment shows it perfectly : it brings a bitter smile, kind of like Rose in 9's regeneration. Regeneration is a positive thing, and so the doctors makes jokes over it. "Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind" is such an important line, and kindness and love are not the same things, so I don't think it's a repetition. This line is important as it portrays this doctor perfectly : kinda rude, and not nice even if he tries (like that joke in under the lake, where he has cards with nice lines to say to peoples). But that doctor was always kind and did everything he did out of kindness. Removing that lines is removing one of the most important trait of that doctor. And finally, that part where he says that he must not tell anyone his name, I love it deeply too. Of course it's obvious, but this whole speech is exactly that : What is the doctor fundamentally, what is attached to that title, the reason why he didn't consider the war doctor a proper doctor. All the elements of the speech were important, and made it one of the best regeneration scene ever : a speech to the next doctor, about what is the Doctor fundamentally, and also about accepting changes, as the 12th Doctor accept that it's its final speech. Ahh yes, 2005, the year of (in my view) Doctor Who's best musical score. When samples and synths were in abundance and the time period of the early 2000's was alien and very, different to todays minimalistic world. The Ninth Doctor, played by Eccleston was a portrayal never seen before in the shows history and very working class too. I wonder if the rumour of the full cues being lost and only the cut down's of the Series One score existing with the Cardiff dubbing team is true? Apparently Murray Gold used to upgrade equipment constantly so if this is true, he likely doesn't have the full cues or maybe none of the cutdown tracks either? Asking the BBC is pointless as well since they don't visit memory lane in the soundtrack department. What a different world 2005 was, literally. A much better time period for experimentation and creativity and web design wasn't homogenous back then either. Everything had it's own style and we weren't bogged down with minimalism. I am very cynical and nihilistic about that sort of stuff now.

On Her Majesties Secret Service uses the theme music SO BADLY. It was very noticeable to me while watching it and led me here, it has none of the style of the previous films. Shame cause it’s one of the most well written stories in any of them.

I prefer the original, because i believe that this is way too simple and the original although was long, the stuff cut out was important to concluding his character "and never ever eat pears" was a line meant to show that the doctor wasnt just an old grumpy man rambling about morality but had a lightheartedness to him and sense of humor, it was also a callback to him saying it in hell bent, and 10th doctor saying it to martha when he was human (she sped thorugh it, but in bts footage you can see it) The whole thing about his name was him emphasizing to his next regeneration the importance of his name as the doctor, and that his real name ultimately didnt matter. him saying children could hear it was him describing his life like a fairy tale (as also evidenced by the name of the episode being twice upon a time, a play on words about the common intro to fairy tales which is "once upon a time") This also isn't the first time the concept of fairy tales in the doctors life was mentioned, even in capaldis era.

Thanks for the extension, the original is all too short but its a great sting.

It seems strange to me that this track was never officially released and now seems to be lost considering it was the actual theme of the main idea of the whole episode.
