The trays look to have sharp edges. I bought a dry freezer in China and the trays were a hazard too: sharp edges and corners. I would suggest rounding/curving the edges and corners. HarvestRight looks to have the right idea. Never used one before but it looks better than what I have.

TXV needs to be adjusted with Guages on and temp sensor on a suction line to adjust the super heat. Freezers are set 4-5 degrees superheat. So your at -45 , suction line is -40 it is 5 degrees. Suction frost is normal and ok. Anything below 32 degrees will have frost. Don't play with the TXV.
