Just found your site and subscribed tonight. Thank you for the video, can’t wait to go through your older videos. My Dad ran tankers out of Kurnell and Mascot for Mobil in the 70’s and ran Dodge V8’s for Streets ice cream in the 60’s and early 70’s. I started my apprenticeship with MB in the early 80’s and this video brought back amazing memories…..thanks again Mark.

@@truckflicks Thanks. Drove trucks in Outback WA several hours north of Kal for a while a few years back. Where punctures are regular, and sealed roads are unusual.

Remember when….. Remember when you could tell what engine a truck had went it accelerated past you? They all had their own sound: Mack 6s and V8s, Cat V8s, Cummins, Detroit 2 strokes and Series 60s, Scania V8s; it’s funny, before the internet I read reams of articles about Scania and Volvos and Seddon Atkinsons and DAFs and Mercedes and Cat powered KWs and Peterbilts, including KW K100s fun by Frederici in Switzerland, and Superliners in OZ. OK, I just dated myself but there it is. I’ve learned that truckers are pretty much the same no matter the country or continent, they have their struggles, they have they favorite makes and engines, they like to personalize-customize and otherwise make their ride their own. I used to drive a company owned truck and I did it too. I love the internet for making it all available around the world so truckers can see how it’s done elsewhere! Keep these vids coming please.

Totally agree with you there. Shut your eyes and you knew exactly the truck and engine back then… Bit more harder these days lol.

Kuchel Custom Trucks is the workshop where the truck was built. It basically looks like a Kenworth C510 but in fact it was assembled by extending the original frame and joining parts of the cab of a modified 510. Many parts of the transmission are original Kenworth. There are two separate compressors for the air conditioning and two for the compressed air. The interior of the driver's cabin and the living unit were also built in Kenworth style. Black dashboard with wood inserts and studded red leather everywhere. There is a bathroom with shower, kitchen and a bedroom with a double bed. The living unit has its own frame mounted on air bearings to ensure the comfort of the occupants. It is just over 11 meters long in total. It has a 27-liter Caterpillar V12 engine with the modified intake system, with a torque of just under 3000 lb ft and about 780 HP of power. They are more than enough to make it tow 700 tons without apparent effort.
