Wow; all new tuners should watch 3 times and be tested. Thanks so much for creating the videos.

Hi Jimmy, nice work. A question to you, is the 24/36 that significant a step up over a 16/36.? I’ve had a 16/36 for several years but find that many of my customers are looking for platters instead of large bowls. Is the 24/36 worth the upgrade
@billmaxwell6405 ай бұрын
Oops….really meant is the 2436 that much better than an 1836?

I notice you have a small stop collar on the shank of your tool just above your quick release (love your quick release collars!). What is the purpose of that?

Could these be used with oils?

I love the shape!! What was that little measurement you did at the approx. 3 minute mark? Is there some mental formula you use as an approximate distance where the body curve starts to transition to the foot curve?

I see people in the comments would love access to wood like this, is there a good source, or is it just luck to come across some, maybe a link?

Liking your approach to the design, just been turning a little over a year and I can see that when I started I didn’t give enough consideration to how the foot interacts with the rim, now I’m more proficient at mounting and the problem resolved

I was really disappointed when you didn't core that beautiful burl. Such a waste, you could have got at least 2 more beautiful bowls out of that burl. An outstanding bowl but I would have rather a set of 3 or 4. Richard...

What angle is the arm when you switched out to put the final angle on the gouge? Is that 45 as well? Using the platform.

Maybe a dumb question but could this be done to a much smaller non symmetrical piece by hand? Do I absolutely need a fast spinning lathe
@charliethegent2 жыл бұрын
For context it's about 22 inches and a somewhat thin though firm piece of ash. No more than 25 mm thick

Thank you for this, Jimmy! This series is my first visit to your channel, boy have I been missing a lot. Every video has either taught me a new approach, helped me understand why the things that work for me work or what I’ll stop doing. Special bonus, all while watching the transformation of a beautiful burl into an heirloom piece to last the ages. Many thanks 🙏

Hi Jimmy, I have just finished watching this series of videos and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I am really surprised that you don’t do more on KZbin but maybe you have been too busy with other work and demonstrations. I do hope you are still loving it out in Vegas and that you are managing to keep out of the casinos😂😂😂. Keep up the great work Jimmy, you still have the gift certainly. Thanks for sharing. Eric from West Pennine Woodturners UK.

One big reason so many other wood turners don't make it on Social Media is they don't have any showmanship. You do. You make wood turning exciting to watch.
