Angkor Wat was built at the behest of the Khmer king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yaśodharapura (present-day Angkor), the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple-mountain and the later galleried temple. It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mythology and is surrounded by a moat more than 5 km (3.1 mi). Enclosed within an outer wall 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the centre of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat is oriented to the west with scholars divided as to the significance of this. The temple complex fell into disuse before being restored in the 20th century with various international agencies involved in the project. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs and devatas adorning its walls. The Angkor area was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. Considered by some experts to be the largest religious structure in the world, it is regarded as one of the best examples of Khmer architecture and a symbol of Cambodia, depicted as a part of the Cambodian national flag. The Angkor Wat is a major tourist attraction and attracts more than 2.5 million visitors every year.

This is a traditional Iranian sport rooted in Iran's religious and spiritual teachings and values. It is accompanied by verses from the Shahnameh and praises of Islamic figures, especially Imam Ali, the first Imam of the Shiites.

in our country we don't have peasants! every iranian group is in the same level. While in ancient "house of power" you become part of a lifestyle were kid's learn about being a strong and honest person with story's of legendary warriors in ancient iran history who battled across the world mixed with Sufisma and poetry which creates people who establish empires like Achaemenid, Parthian and Sasanian's

This is the crown jewel in David Adams' catalog. It is as good as Ken Burns 'Civil War', my benchmark for a great documentary, though it's completely different. At great risk, expense, logistical planning, historical research, and adventurism Adams takes you to a fascinating distant world in an area on the globe that makes your eyes glaze over as you turn it. You will see and learn of things you have never known to have existed. The computer generated digital mock-ups of the ancient unknown places he finds are splendid. Mr Adams deserves to be paid for this series via dvd boxset only. I only got to see it because I checked it out of the library. His maps of the changing freshwater sea/river routes after the last ice age grip your attention as you see into a vanished developed world equal to any in that neolithic time.

Pharoahs were BLACK Africans from the beginning of time. 14,000 year old burials of Kings were photographed with its pottery jewelry etc in the Nubian museum in Aswan The Western Asian, Greek, Roman foreigners who sat on the Egyptian Thrones were not indigenous to the Nile Valley. NUBIA is the SOURCE of this culture 🙄This is an uneducated video. Let this Egyptologist from Berlin University below educate you 🙄 kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoTPqKtumtN8sK8

so how do you win in Iranian wrestling? Whoever falls down first?
@aarr89362 жыл бұрын
it looks like whoever gets dominant grips wins, I guess? To wrestlers, it should be obvious who has won an exchange, even without the takedown. (E.g. whoever has double underhooks, or gets behind the opponent with a bodylock, or whoever has the more secure single-leg). Or maybe they just don't keep score during practice, and only do for matches (or, because Iran does very well in the Olympics, maybe they have more sport-based teams that train around OIympic rules?)

Zoorkhaneh does not have Islamic roots. While Persians struggled to resist the Arab invasion and there by Islam, Iranians gave the Zoorkhaneh a religious veneer that seemed Islamic. In fact, many of its rituals are from the Ancient Persian culture. At the core of it Zoorkhaneh is a place where men learn to be men by acquiring the codes of chivalry…. In competition, you’ll notice that all Iranian wrestler are very curious of their opponents. As a foreign team visiting Iran for a friendly match, they often let you wine the first match. There’s a beautiful delicacy about this culture.
