Max, QUESTION - with regards to the EA550, what is the general time from cold hangar pull out to hold short ready in the Eclipse? Some jets require 40 minutes of prep time to fly. Stay safe!!
@MaxJetRev
@MaxJetRev Күн бұрын
I would say around 15-20 min. Eclipse is very user friendly, so pre-flight takes no more then 5 minutes, after which you can set up the cockpit (including clearance and FPL) in another 7 minutes or so. What do you currently fly?
@billinga
@billinga 23 сағат бұрын
@@MaxJetRev Currently c310 driver and interestingly enough, it takes longer to prep the 310 to fly than the Eclipse. Takes about 10-15 for walk around, 10-15 for engine start and avionics check and flightplan entry, and taxi, runup and holdshort takes 10. So it takes about 30-45 minutes from arrival to hold short for the 310.

It depends on the year, condition, hours etc. A plane, like on the video would cost around $2.5-3M with no engine program. You can find 800A for under $1M. Let me know if you need help finding one.

What a stupid and meaningless yardstick. .80 M is what....10miles per hour faster than the next "fast" jet? I am astonished that transitioning pilots need not have an multiengine rating in order to get type rated in the Eclipse. Where can I look this up to read for myself?
@MaxJetRev
@MaxJetRev 4 ай бұрын
If you get an Eclipse type rating you will get multiengine rating limited to centerline thrust. Eclipse has been made with safety in mind to be pilot's airplane. It's almost as easy to fly as SR22. What is your current aviation experience?
@JustSayN2O
@JustSayN2O 4 ай бұрын
@@MaxJetRev ASEL plus Instrument Airplane, 408.5 hrs total time, mostly in a G1000-equipped Cessna 172 (rented). Not a lot of aviation experience, but I've covered the basics. My next step would be transition training to an SR20, if only I could find one locally for rent, and with air conditioning (extremely hot where I live until November). Plenty of Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilots in my area, so that's not an issue. And I still find it hard to believe that the asymmetrical thrust associated with flying an Eclipse with only one operational engine does not require the training necessary for a traditional multiengine rating. It's not a Cessna Skymaster or an Adam 500. Hard to wrap my head around this.

The reason for no STC for a 650 could be that the avionics is a hornet's nest and it freaks out if anything is changed. Maybe it could get an STC for removing all the junk and putting in a new suite. But then something else would freak out. It's better if someone makes an actually good new plane. Clean intelligent design. It has a big belly fairing which makes the door mechanism more complex. I really don't like belly fairings. Also for a supposedly carbon fiber plane, its empty weight is 4ton. How is that even possible. I guess it's all that avionics junk. Eclipse is metal and it weighs 1.6ton.
