My 06 Crf450r’s never idled and I got the valves done and it idled for a bit and then now it has kind of low compression but still has a lot , and it won’t idle anymore unless super hot or with choke on. Do you know what the issue could be?
@motorcore_usa9 күн бұрын
Timing could be 180 off, had a service with this exact problem. Or it could be the head gasket. (head might need to be resurfaced.)

What did you do a carb clean or something? Just curious because I have the same bike. The idle is also considerably high
@motorcore_usa20 күн бұрын
@@heavyd5670 Yeah I lowered the idle back down after. But before it was too lean, so I went up on all the jets. Also i adjusted the valve clearances.

@@johnqueen2754 Yes I have some. But that tool is specifically made to make bolts able to thread. And give it that cone shape instead of it being flat so it won’t strip.

Thanks for the video, man! Workin on 2 500 Rubicons that sat a long time, redid the fuel system and went to start only to be met with a loud backfire. Noticed it had a light "tapping" sound when it turns over, so I'm pretty sure an exhaust valve is stuck.

So an fyi, if you don't disable the decompression system in on the cam, you're going to see low compression on your tests.

Yes that's a good point. But this one never started even with good valve clearances, telling me it needed a rebuild.

that's not wide open. and your bike sounds weird.. don't sound like a two stroke.
@motorcore_usaАй бұрын
Yeah this was my first ever dirt bike so I didn't quiet open it up all the way, resulting in that weird 2 stroke sound. Loading up is the term, it's when the bike is a bit more rich and you don't "clear it out" or keep it "wide open"
@6ohdave3 ай бұрын
Did the shim kit fix it?

how does it turn out ? was it the proplem , i think i may have the same issue with my 2008 . oil in the head vent and consuming coolant . i am about to open it up .
@motorcore_usa3 ай бұрын
Turns out that the head surface was uneven and the resurface helped seal the head gasket so yeah it was the problem.

@nathanevangelista80663 ай бұрын
Good video, so I see there are timing marks on the cams so that you can make sure you're at top dead center but I noticed on mine as well there's no timing marks on the crank where you put back on there how do you know you're at top dead center from the crank do you just make sure the Pistons at the highest point on this because my Honda has timing marks on the bottom and on the crank
@motorcore_usa3 ай бұрын
No, actually for this year and model KTM there is a bolt at the bottom of the case and your supposed to have a certain length fastener so that when you put the bolt in it locks the crank at top dead center. (the mark/hole for the bolt is at the bottom side of the case as shown in the video)
@nathanevangelista80663 ай бұрын
I see!! At about 3 minutes and 42 seconds in. I just picked up a bike with the same engine.... I came off working on a 2005 CRF250R. This is a cool feature being able to lock the crank at TDC. Thank you again for clarifying!!!!

I would disagree. if you rode it as it was the handling would be horrible just getting it into the shop the frame lifts up so that means every little bump you'll feel in your arms, a lot more than you should.
