Poor kids. Forced to believe in ghosts without options.

Proverb 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. All kids have PLENTY of options, we are trying to provide our kids with truth in a world full of falsehood.

We MUST be born again. You are born again when you are like Jesus. Then you are sinless 1 John 2: 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. We must be born again! Then Jesus has baptized you with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit do not let you sin anymore!!! To become born again you have to repent and ask Jesus forgiveness for your sins or ask Jesus in your heart! A really born again Christian has no future sins!! He is perfect, righteous and the light of the world. Please study : 1 John 3, Romans 6:6, Romans 8, Gal 5, Eph 4 and Titus 2:14!

Jan- Thank you for your input. I think this is a discussion we should have in person OR via email. If you would email me at [email protected] - we could arrange a meeting OR I would be happy to address your concerns and clarify my sermon via email. Kudos to you for being a Berean (Acts 17:11).

Brother, thanks for your lively lesson. May I ask a question? Have you given any thought as to why the king of Nineveh didn’t try to summon Jonah to a face-to-face meeting? (I have an idea about this, but I'd like to know yours.)
@MansfieldUPC3 жыл бұрын
John, I guess I have never considered why the king of Nineveh did not summon Jonah. I would like to hear your thoughts.
@johnbuchan36783 жыл бұрын
Brother, thanks very much for kindly replying. Are you open to a rather different take? That the king couldn’t summon Jonah because Jonah had "vanished" by hiding in total isolation somewhere in Nineveh. (At Jericho, God told Joshua to march over a period of seven days. But at Nineveh, God told Jonah to proclaim, “In just 40 days more Nineveh will be overthrown.” That message was valid for only one day, because if there had been a second day of preaching the “40” would have had to change to “39.”) To the superstitious Ninevites, this stunning message by a lone, courageous, Hebrew-speaking prophet who "vanished" after his day of preaching was completely effective. Jonah keeping himself isolated from the Ninevites until he left the city at verse 4:5 can also explain why Jonah hadn’t realized that the Ninevites had repented. How does that sound? (At verse 3:10, God recognized that the Ninevites had repented. But there is no indication in this book that Jonah recognized that the Ninevites had repented.) How does that sound?

John- I apologize for the delay in responding... We are a small church and I don't get to spend time online as much as I would like. I think your explanation for keeping the 40 days... 40 DAYS is a good one. With the added implications and consequences of a "vanishing" prophet to spur on the Ninevite repentance! Thanks for taking time and listening and giving input. I will try to be more diligent in responding.

Brother, thanks very much for getting back to me. Do you enjoy defending the Bible from those who view it as a collection of fairy tales? Have you considered why King Solomon was absolutely sure that the soldier at 1 Kings 3:25 would not actually harm the baby? (Solomon had asked God for wisdom, but he hadn't asked for foreknowledge. And in those days, in certain cases soldiers in Israel's army were commanded to execute women, children, or infants.)
