Yes, you can beach launch. I just normally use the launch ramp becuase my kayak ends up being pretty heavy with all of the gear i take

Hey bro Im trying to get into kayaking in the ocean, when would you go is there a certain time of day or have something to do with tides?

I usually find it to be less windy in the first half of the day. I also use Windy.com or the Windy app. It shows wind and the swells (waves) for the time/days you want to go out. On this day it was like 2 feet swells every 8 seconds which is pretty much ideal

Nice work. Last Tuesday was super calm. I was out there as well, just in a boat this time.

I used the launch ramp. They have to left side closed because it's really shallow so the boats on trailers can't use it. It makes it less busy for the kayakers

When I came in around 10:30 with my boat and did not see any kayak, very windy this day. What is the name of the Lure you are using?

The lure I was using last Saturday was the Bill Lewis Scope Stik in chrome/blue

Bro you got balls man I would not risk getting hooked by a treble! I’d do what everyone else does and troll tray bait!

thanks, I do keep some heavy duty cutters in my tackle box that should easily cut a hook. It will happen at some point, fingers crossed it's further down the road.

I’ve almost never see anyone use a deep diving jerkbait for halibut trolling this lol! Just only once when die hard fishing did it but that’s it! Good catch!
@DNaruo

I come from a bass fishing background so I'm a bit familiar with using jerkbaits, and I hate dealing with live/frozen bait.

Good job lading that halibut. I am not an expert, but you might want to try to switch your hands to make it easier to gaff with your dominating hand. Great video.
@DNaruo

I saw this tip while I was out on the water today and was able to gaff a decent 25" Hali using my right arm.
@kayakfishingcouple8866
@kayakfishingcouple8866 9 ай бұрын
@@DNaruo Great. You might also want to upgrade your gaff for bigger halibuts. I have been using Promar GFE-523 Elite Series Carbon and am very happy with it. It is only 2 feet long but works very well. People using longer gaffs are not very accurate and miss the fish frequently.
@DNaruo
@DNaruo 9 ай бұрын
@@kayakfishingcouple8866 I have been thinking of getting something more rigged, and it's true that the extra length on the gaff isn't all that necessary when sitting so close to the water.

Hey, just came across your channel. I have the exact same kayak I got last year. And I've been out a Half Moon Bay. a few times It's just getting really confusing about what's in season and what's not in season? Or how far do you have to go out? With the new regulations
@DNaruo
@DNaruo Жыл бұрын
I know, I had no clue the season was going to end just a few days after I was out there. Not sure if you watch the vids by MooMoo Outdoors but he's working on a petition to bring back a more full rockfish season for nearshore small vessel anglers like us.

I use the, "6th Sense Line Through Swimbait Treble Head". In this case I was using the 1oz version but I'll use the 3/4oz when I'm in SFbay. I will use a 4.3-4.8" Keitech type paddle tail swimbait.

@DNaruo
@DNaruo Жыл бұрын
@@obwith2.332 I got the deep diving lure on clearance so i'm not really sure who makes it. I can say it's about 4.5" and chrome and blue. My normal go to is the Berkeley Flicker Shad 4.25" chrome and blue.
