Opetaia fought two low ranking overmatched opponents with soft records after Briedis. Got them out of there in a hurry, good on him, expected. But what did those fights contribute to his preparation for Briedis, not much. I don’t think that those two fights count as staying busy, unless you count the camp to prepare for them, which coincides with the camps that Briedis had to challenge Opetaia for a rematch as soon as possible. There was supposed to have been a back to back rematch after Opetaia recovered from his jaw surgery. Briedis stepped aside so that Opetaia could fight Thompson. There was an agreement that Briedis would fight the winner of Opetaia vs Thompson. Opetaia won and the fight between Briedis and Opetaia was being worked on when Opetaia received an offer to fight in Saudi Arabia on a short notice. Briedis had a training camp injury he was recovering from and wasn’t going to be ready for the fight. Briedis then steps aside with a condition that he still gets to fight the winner next. IBF had an issue with Opetaia fighting an unranked opponent after he already used up one voluntary defense and stripped him. Nothing mysterious about any of this. If you don’t take time to research the thread of events, you will be left uninformed. Briedis became a mandatory by moving up in rankings by default. Two boxers that were ahead of him took other opportunities with other sanctioning organizations. Nothing too complex. Briedis was waiting for this rematch since the decision was given to Opetaia. He offered to fight Justis Huni at heavyweight in Australia to generate more buzz and earn the rematch. Huni wasn’t interested. So now we are nearly there. Hopefully the fight happens even if there are more delays for Fury vs Usyk. Briedis wins this fight as he figured Opetaia out evidenced by him dominating later part of the fight in which a younger fighter supposed to dominate, if they are equally conditioned, skilled and determined. Briedis proved that he was a notch above in these areas.

@@tupekalifa6685 Did you read my comment? Briedis didn’t duck, he allowed Opetaia to take two voluntary defenses against weak opponents. Opetaia probably had to pay Briedis step aside money for one of those fights. If Briedis ducked, why is he fighting now? No one was pushing for this fight to happen than Briedis, Opetaia was the one avoiding it taking easy mine in easy fights. I do not blame him for that as he has a family to support as fighting Briedis the first proved to be difficult in the ring and after the fight. The rematch is near. Let’s see what happens and discuss it after the fight.

When he got stripped for cocain he said “I apologize and this will never happen again” when he got stripped for being overweight he said the same thing again “I apologize it will not happen again” than he got caught drunk and says the same fucking thing all over again 😂 this dude is not disciplined. If you are comfortable being drunk out in public than most likely your having mid day drinks during the week.

Exactly! This is only one occasion the public has seen, who knows what’s going on outside of the public’s eye. Discipline is critical in this sport especially at the elite level. If he doesn’t work on his discipline it won’t take too long before he starts falling away from the top rankings.

Presuming that Tszyu probably does want a rematch - Wait 7 months or take a fight in between while Fundora recovers. Fundora's Promoter after the fight prioritized Spence, then Crawford, then Tszyu - should be that order in reverse 😂

Fundora strategy was better simple. He knew Tim was going to try and take him out. That meant he had to close the distance. Fast. So Sebastian knew placing his elbow in the right spot would self inflict tim. More experience in Fundoras camp...very simple. Anyone who has messed about with elbows knows you dont really have to hit your opponent. You just need to put your elbow in the trajectory of your opponents strikes/head. This was a failure on three levels from TSZYU camp. 1) took the fight with short notice 2) failed to know his enemy's strategy which was kind of obvious if you look at his natural attributes 3) the corner should have NC before round 4.its not unfortunate...its lack of experience and analysis of opponent. He did not know his opponent. Which ironically is Sun Tszyu main lesson. Know your opponent, know yourself and win 100% of your battles.

Accidental my anus. What fight were you watching? If I was to teach Muay Thai elbow strikes Id use Fundora as an example, planted front foot, rotate body and a short swing of the elbow to coincide with the forward moving target. Right up there with the science of the one inch punch. You dont get cut like that from a fall alone Buster. Re watch the replays where the full height of both boxers are shown with the positions of the legs too

PBC is trying to muscle in Crawford and wanted to fight Tim so PBC put Kieth name in the mix. Everyone was crying, esp Bradley, a much harder fight than Fundora. Now Thurman pulled a bicep, Crawford wants the winner .Then, PBC try to block Bud by putting Spence back in the mix . Al wants his boxers at 147 to go 154lbs & fight , Thurman vs. Spence Crawford vs. Tim Zzyu . I like Fundora. He's different .It might be Tim Zzyu vs. Spence, i feel it's a fight that Tim.should win . But i see it eventually Crawford vs. Thurman .

I think It will likely be a rematch between Fundora and Tszyu and if Tszyu wins Crawford could be after that. Tszyu would probably want to fight again before September though. Spence vs Tszyu would be a good one to watch before the rematch or it could be the winner fights Fundora and the winner of that fights Crawford. So many directions this all could go lol.

Not saying it was deliberate, but I can't see the physics involved, I have hit my head on a cupboard corner and its not done anywhere near the damage and that's a solid object bolted to the wall. How do you get a 4 inch gash from running into a flexible arm. I watched the slow mo, Fundoras arm actually looks to rise as Tims head goes down, I just don't get it, its so random. I just don't see how a glancing blow can do that on a flexible arm, any force at the elbow joint and the shoulder joint moves, like I said, its just so random.
@MidSynBoxing
@MidSynBoxing 20 күн бұрын
It is a very unusual outcome. The only way it makes sense to me would be the head gripping the elbow with that force to cause a cut like it did. Some cuts in boxing are caused from the glove gripping the skin and ripping it open, hence why Vaseline is your best friend for preventing cuts. So maybe a similar thing happened with the head contacting the elbow. You are right though, it is very random.

Seems to me that Tim was falling,that means all his weight was behind the fall.The question is why did Fundora check,stop Tim's fall?? Tim had thrown his punch and was ready to fall onto the canvas.Absolutely no need to bring your elbow into it.Let your opponent hit the canvas,step back.I have real doubts as to why Fundora did what he did. Watch it again.Tim was falling, elbow was deliberately used.He did use the elbow!!
@bencahill5132
@bencahill5132 20 күн бұрын
@@martinross3968 that's why I said I cannot understand the physics, Tims head was falling hitting the inside of Fundoras elbow from the angle I have seen, so any energy exerted on the inside of an elbow then forces the shoulder joint to rotate outward, like I said, it doesn't add up, I would love to see a reverse angle shot. Though not siding with Jim, i can't, I wasn't there, maybe he saw something we didnt, but as stated the enegy and motion involved does not add up to a 4 inch gash
@martinross3968
@martinross3968 20 күн бұрын
@@bencahill5132 I think the angle I saw was clearly bringing his elbow into Tim's head and his own body.As you can see,he moves Tims head into his own stomach. Deliberate move,using all the braced muscles involved.Shoulder is not going to pop up.Again Tim's body weight, with the forward momentum of his missed punch easily does it.Should have let him fall.

My take on the cut, is that their feet tangled together slightly, which caused Tim to fall in and get the elbow. Accidental for sure. If you look at the replay…. their feet also tangled about 30 seconds before the cut as well. Tim would have given Fundora a hiding. I just wished that they stopped the fight at the end of the 3rd or 4th. Excellent video brother

It is very common for that to happen when a southpaw vs orthodox fighter. I agree it was accidental and I don’t know where this intentional opinion is coming from. Tim was well ahead before the cut and would have done some damage less the cut. Yes, I think they should’ve stopped it early too. Thanks for the comment and the support my friend 🙏
