Flashback to then. I am in the family station wagon at Target as Mom is inside and I'm in the Family Truckster cranking up the radio. Meanwhile in a nearby sedan, a girl (hot) from my class is grooving to the same tune. She saw me and froze. I stuck my tongue out and laughed. No, we didn't marry years later.

Yo esta cancion nunca la escucho en las radios basuras de sudamerica. Cuando realmente es un temon.los brutos locutores ponen miles y miles de veces otras canciones recontra comunes hasta en eso hoy el mundo es una cagada

*Desert Moon | Dennis De Young (1984) [Lyrics:] January 02, 2025* *[Verse 1]* *"Is this the train to Desert Moon?"* *Was all she said* *But I knew I'd heard* *That stranger's voice before* *I turned to look into her eyes* *But she moved away* *[Pre-Chorus]* *She was standing in the rain* *Trying hard to speak my name* *They say first love never runs dry* *[Verse 2]* *The waiter poured our memories* *Into tiny cups* *We stumbled over words* *We longed to hear* *We talked about the dreams we'd lost* *Or given up* *[Pre-Chorus]* *When a whistle cut the night* *And shook silence from our lives* *As the last train rolled towards the dune* *[Chorus]* *Those summer nights* *When we were young* *We bragged of things* *We'd never done* *We were dreamers* *Only dreamers* *And in our haste* *To grow too soon* *We left our innocence* *On Desert Moon* *We were dreamers* *Only dreamers* *[Bridge]* *On Desert Moon* *On Desert Moon* *On Desert Moon* *Desert Moon* *[Verse 3]* *I still can hear the whisper of the summer night* *It echoes in the corners* *Of my heart* *The night we stood and waited for the desert train* *[Pre-Chorus]* *All the words we meant to say* *All the chances swept away* *Still remain on the road to the dune* *[Chorus]* *Those summer nights* *When we were young* *We bragged of things* *We'd never done* *We were dreamers* *Only dreamers* *Moments pass* *And time moves on* *But dreams remain* *For just as long* *As there's dreamers* *All the dreamers* *[Outro]* *On Desert Moon* *On Desert Moon* *On Desert Moon* *Desert Moon...* *Writer: Dennis DeYoung*

*Thank you so much for sharing such a great song from the 80s, a song that is still in my memory. Very good sound quality, sounds great.*

Never really listened to New Wave music when it first came out, as I was in the military when this type of music broke. We didn't get much of selection other than Top 40 and it was even worse if we happened to be stationed out of the country. Caught some episodes of MV3, which was hosted by David Maples, Richard Blade, and the lovely Karen Scott, but I just didn't get enough exposure to these New Wave acts. Now I've got my XM radio set to 1st Wave and love the music from this era.

The piano fills on this version are better than the phil collins version, but this one sounds clunky and all over the place. Put these piano fills on the phil collins version and you've got the perfect song.

This is, of course, the first version of the song I heard back then, and it's awesome! I also like the version with Phil Collins on drums as well. A brilliant song for sure! :)

The version which changed my musical destiny. I still remember hearing this in a club for the first time. 4AM, smoke machine & strobe. Pure bliss.

Compact Discs are my preference over LPs for audio quality. I have this on both, and this LP sounds incredible over the CD. Whoever engineered this recording brought their A game to the session.

Ok this i a very nice Disco cut! Really as Disco goes, this is basically the perfect recipe at the height of the "disco era". Perfect dance beat for freestyle or Hustle. Orchestration, 4/4 steady dance beat, and of course a JAZZ sax solo within a Disco cut. That solo is straight jazz training. I really wish I knew who this was on sax. Its definitely not Michael Brecker, nor early David Sanborn.... could be any talented sax.
@DJMikeBradyАй бұрын
Brecker played on this album - I'll have to check the cover to see if he's specifically listed on this song!
