I replaced my pins on a Gibson Gospel and a D28 copy of a Martin, with brass ones and I got louder sound and more sustain. They do have a noticeable difference. I use lights and extra lights strings also.

Yes but for crying out loud please STOP screwing the strap lug into the open end of the neck heel. This is the worst place on a guitar to place it and I’ve seen enough damaged neck heels to support my opinion. The much safer and stronger position on the heel is where every other guitar maker places it, on the side of the heel.

"Windy and Warm" Written by John D. Loudermilk and was presented to Chet Atkins and he immediately decided to record it. He release it on his album "This is Chet Atkins" It was later recorded by Doc Watson who won a Grammy for it. Many other guitarist have released it in various different versions. Notably Tommy Emanuel, Tony Rice and the Kruger Brothers. A few players put it in their repertoire to be at times played on stage. However, many players like Billy Strings, Trey Hensley, and Richard Smith who all have the talent to play it properly but due to it being such a classic refrain from adding it to their shows unless they are paying homage to either Chet or Doc.

Yumyum... I own the AP66shb e, and it's got a lovely deep 'tone' that I adore... but that all mahagony has a very expensive voice. Holy cats. Like silk velvet compared to rayon velvet. Im serious. 😂 both are gorgeous, but when you touch the silk, you know how fine it is.

Thank you Chris and Lee! Alvarez is really knocking it outta d'park! Who thinks Honduran mahogany surprising overtones are Yairi bridge related?? More micro delay than traditional overtones?

I have a WY-1 that I got way back in the 90's. Love that guitar. It's my main acoustic guitar, and the best playing one in comparison to a D35, or an F400, or a J 45. I recommend Alvarez for an acoustic guitar for anything, and I've played a ton of guitars

You can get a close approximation of brass bridge pins by glueing four quarters (21.5 grams) to the bridge and using the stock plastic bridge pins to hold the strings.

Damn the one without cutaways is so nice! What was the nut width on this? I suspect there might be interest from players who are more used to a bigger acoustic type width.

I brought my DY-71 to a bluegrass jam and was sitting next to someone who had a really nice Collings and he was amazed, getting somewhat jealous over the sound was getting out of an old “beater” I bought for $350 on EBay!
