They downsized the boot by a Wapping 284 litters that used to be 420 litres 👀🫣. What is Toyota thinking of. What a shame, it looks very nice but €46,000 and half the size boot of the older version, I bet you won’t see many of these selling well across Europe. You can buy at top of the range Toyota camary for the same price .

A bit of a laugh... We decided to bring home a bed... too long for the load-space, but easy to secure with the tailgate open a bit. It's an EV, so it's not going to gas us with carbon monoxide, right? We set with a door-open warning on the display, and some "Bong, Bong, Bong", but this eventually went away. When we stopped at a T intersection, the built-in Safety Troll said "Enough"! It locked the transmission, flashed scary warnings on the displays, and set off an alarm that would wake the dead! We turned everthing off, restarted it, and managed to get home without actually stopping again; that needed some really fancy timing at the traffic lights! Don't get me wrong; we are in love with the car, would never go back to the BMW's we have driven for more than forty years.

OK if you are rich enough to own and run such a vehicle.I am not at all against luxury motorcars , the new technologies may well be being tested and improved on the genre . However, for EVs to become really successful in the short to medium term we need to see today's manufacturers take a leaf from Henry Ford's book and have vehicles made that can serve a much wider market.Maybe the Chinese have realised this and we shall see many recognised brands go out of business?

There will always be plenty of wealthy people to buy this type of expensive EV and the rest of us can settle for an affordable Tesla or Hyundai. Same as with ICE cars.
@kiwi335d2 күн бұрын
Manufacturers building affordable to the masses EV’s, while crucial, is eclipsed by the immediate need for a massively improved charging infrastructure. Particularly with the number of potential EV’s buyers that call an apartment home. If you cannot charge at home, then you are stuck with paying five times plus more to charge your EV vs the cost for a homeowner charging from their home charger. This alone is becoming a major drawback for new prospective EV buyers.

I enjoyed the upside down video snippets; for you Aussie viewers. :) Great video. Ordered my Wind+ (the mid range model without the Harmon-Kardon sound system, sun roof, heads up display) in the same colour. I'm not sure if the V2L is included with this model. Does the car not come with a standard electric plug in the cabin? My Ford PHEV has two.

I called FPL and I spend $58 per month charging it. I drive like 17mi daily, so not bad. The bad part is that I can’t go on a road-trip that’s longer than 2.5 hours. Not enough charging stations for this type of car so end up renting a car every time we want to go on a family vacation. Now, it’s so smooth, great sound system, you don’t feel the street rough patches and it blocks outside noise.

I have an EQS580 and I’m about to purchase this car. I can tell you from experience that the only advantage of the EQS is its longer range. If that’s not important, the comfort, driving experience and stately appearance of this vehicle, far exceeds the EQS.
@bossman4401Ай бұрын
I sat in both and test drive the EQS, the BMW is far superior in terms of comfort and quality, the leather is so soft, the seats are more comfortable than most living room suites. I’m also looking at buying the i7 next year. Hopefully worth the upgraded speakers and lounge seats at the rear.

In the Tipperary Road Safety Strategy 2022-2030 document Sam Waid puts at the top of the Intervention List for improving road safety '1. Safe roads and roadsides' . There is scant reference to this most important road design issue during this interview. When is the RSA going to implement 'black box thinking' with respect to road safety??

Jesus in the garden Patrick, At that price (46,625 Euro's), an XSE Premium (that is what you are testing isn't it), would translate to $70,403.75 CAD ! We can buy that trim here in Newfoundland for (starting cost), $46,045 CAD. Why the huge price difference. At 70+ they'd never sell a single unit here me thinks. We ordered a (red), 2022 Prime SE trim, in 2022. In March of this year, after 21 months, a Pearl coloured model landed and the dealer said "take it or leave it". We took it, even though the Pearl paint cost $600 more. And, it's not really white at all, looking closely, it really is pearl. We ordered the SE trim because it came with 17" tires and wheels. As nice as the 19's rims are, the 17's offer advantages. Better milage and handling, a more comfortable ride and much lower replacement cost. Our Prime will do 0~60 in 6.48 seconds and, we see 61.2mpg (3.84 L per 100Km). None of our roads are flat, it's all "up and down like a dog's stomach". So, those are impressive numbers. And, oddly, though the car came with plastic wheel covers (hub caps), meant to aid in reducing drag, underneath them is found a nice set of black alloy rims. I've never seen a car with hub caps that didn't have plain stamped steel rims behind the covers. You must be charging on 220v to be seeing a 4 hour charge. We are using 115v and it takes 11 hours. Not a big deal, we charge overnight so it's not an issue. All the same, we are investigating buying a level 2 charger as that would be not only faster, it would be more economical. We love this thing but, I have two worries; no spare ! While the regular Prius can be fitted with one (Toyota makes a kit available), the Prime can not use the kit (nowhere to stow it). If you get a sidewall tear away from home you'll need a tow-truck. The other worry is the low, low front end. Here, moose are a constant threat on our roads. We have, by far the most dense level of that animal than anywhere else in the world. Last I heard the stats there are, on average, two collisions per day here. If one is driving one of the huge pick-ups that are too common here you'll likely total it, but you'll walk away. Hitting a moose in a Prime will turn the car into an instant convertible and you'll be dead. And, it's not only a danger on our highways, we have moose in our garden every second day and we're 15 minutes from city centre. My wife and me and two close friends spent two weeks in Ireland about five years ago. We all (like most of us here), have roots in Ireland so getting there was on "the bucket list". So very glad we could visit. All hands fell in love with the place, not a single bad angle to be found. I want to go back again. Wouldn't I just be in my glee driving our Prime on those country roads.......... Cheers

That something like this has to be stopped from entering the US market is an example of everything that is broken with our economy and manufacturing. The real fear is that China or India can make and sell a van like this for $10k USD and profit nicely from the transaction... The US can't manufacture and sell this for under $60k USD without losing money even with government subsidies. Even then they would never do it as it might hurt sales of their giant gas guzzling pickup trucks because big oil all the related gas station products making us fat like soda, chips and chocolate would be impacted.

Great review. I found that most people compare the MG ZS EV to car's way more expensive, but like you mentioned: You can't be nitpicking at this price. We ordered a car (EV Luxury Long Range) Testdriving it before we ordered we were surprised. It handled well. Physical buttons are great and the space is more then enough for the two of us. The panoramic sunroof is great and the sound system good enough with 6 speakers. From the money we safe getting this car we can easily take a three week vacation (all inclusive) for the next two years. So a no brainer for us.

I've just sold my 18-month-old C5X 1.6 hybrid after owning it for 12 months. The depreciation has been crippling and it's value has plummeted by £12,000 over that period - I could have leased a brand new Range Rover for that. The drive comfort is wonderful and in hybrid mode it would easily achieve 90mpg. That said, the car has been really glitchy including pop-up faults with the climate control, heated driver's seat, reversing camera, auto wipers, auto lights, auto locking and electric tailgate. The weird slider thing to put it into gear (by sliding it backwards) always needs a double-check and its really easy to accidentally put it in reverse rather than drive, because its so counter-intuitive. The voice assistant is absolutely useless. Its such a shame because I was so excited to get the car and wanted to love it - but didn't.
