I thought this was the only version. My Donovan greatest hits on vinyl had this version. I’ve had that record close to 50 years now. I don’t listen to my vinyl records as much as I would like. I bought the Cd about 5 years ago on a whim to listen to while on a road trip. This cd had the other version that I didn’t know about. I was so disappointed. It was unrefined folk and was a lot faster. I love Donovan, but that version sucks as a song period! I couldn’t find this one on the internet until now! Thanks for the download. This is the first time I’ve listened to this without crying in 33 years. I got my heart really broken by a chick back then. This song was a back drop by chance. A very beautiful yet powerful song by Scotland’s answer to Bob Dylan. Wow!🐝🦅👀🍄🪲🎩🪐

Is this an example of why Dylan grabbed the guitar out of Donovan’s hands in Don’t Look Back?

This song 🎶 indeed is beautiful and pleasant as well. It sounds poetic and only Donovan can record something as beautiful as this. Songs in those days not only very beautiful but times in those days were rather simpler and music 🎼 had meaning and a message.

Same thing happened to me - his music was a Godsend to me during a very dangerous time of my adolescence! I composed one of my 2 greatest poems during that time. God sends certain people into our life as a rescue line. He also called me OUT OF THE WATER at age 13 and told me "Swim to shore, there is death in the water." I complied immediately. Minutes later 2 blue sharks were circling the Deepwater raft ... first time they'd appeared in our beach in Connecticut. The year before, at my Aunt & Uncle's summer home on Fort Myers Beach, my cousin and I were saved from a 20-foot hammerhead shark attack by a pod of dolphins who intercepted the shark, sent one dolphin in to us and gave us a shepherding signal (a foot away from me!), then it turned around and sped back to join the pod to help ram it to death. Yes, God's care is real. When I needed the mystical music of Donovan, it was there to soothe me. Hear his sing "CELESTE". My buddy and I saw him play it in concert in '68 at Yale. So glad to hear of your rescue!! God bless you.

@@RobertEmmettHenry That's great Robert. People do come into our lives for a reason. The key is to let it flow and not force anything. I was a petty criminal with a chip on my shoulder running in the alley ways. The album Fairy-Tale came into my hands and lifted my spirit. Changed me in ways I can't explain. I guess I learned gentle respect. I have a channel here playing the 12 string. You might like it. Peace.

funny you mention that. there was an interview i heard on NPR about 20 years ago where he was talking about his glory days. i don't remember it verbatim but basically one day at the height of everything it occurred to him that he and all of these other musicians had a moral obligation to set good examples for the people who admired them and bought their music. he then pointed out his career began to decline after this revelation. but he didn't change his mindset. he seemed to be at peace with it.
